I have abused the fuck out of my back and tailbone my entire adult life with absolutely terrible posture. I have no one to blame but myself. It is of no surprise to me when my tailbone gets sore when I'm sitting because I did bring that on myself. What is of surprise is when it acts up when I am laying down. This defies expectation and (to me) explanation. Whether I am mostly flat in a recline chair or entirely flat on a mattress, the tailbone periodically acts up. Why is this? It literally has the least weight on it that it is possible to have, so both muscle and skeleton should be in rest/recovery mode. Outside of putting a seat belt on all my chairs and literally forcing better posture, is there *anything* I can do about this or at least get an explanation as to why this is? It defies intuition in the extreme.
Added in edit: If I had to guess, is it possible that it is shifting back into the position it should be in and this shift is causing (managable) pains? This is the only theory I can come up with.
