Where the summers are hot, the biscuits are perfect, the rest of the America thinks the people are all yokels and foreigners think the people are all cowboys.

"It war about this time uv the yeah, come nex' week, when they war a meetin' down t' th' settlement, an' I rode my mar' down to see whut th' confabulation was about.

At the gatherin', thar war Thad Thomas an' Otious Jones an' Whitfield Ballingeh, an' they infohm's us that them thar Yankees war comin' south, an' buhn up ouah houses an' run off ouhaw stock an' take ouhaw wimmen, an' it war ouhaw bounden juty ter spring ter ahms an' molest th' pizon varmints. Right much uv the boys war enrollin' ter jine th' wah, but I sez to m'self, I sez, I'll jes' go home and stay a'w'ile longer wit' my wife.

Then, one day, Ise crossin' the turnpike, nigh untoe Buttermilk Spring, an' a feller in a uniform comes along, an' w'en he sees me, he puts his hoss toe a trot, an' hails me, right thar on th' turnpike.

'You,' he says, 'do you belong to this wah?'

'Naw, suh,' I tells him, 'Ah don't.'

'Well,' he says, 'is you got a hoss?'

'Naw, suh,' I tells him, 'I got a mar'.'

'That's all right,' he says, 'you take yo' mar' an' repoht to the camp in the grove over yonder.'

Wall, I does. They enrolls me on th' muster, an' they tells the kit an' boodle uv us to saddle up, an' a peart, loud-voiced feller takes us up on the ridge, an' uv all th' wheelin', an' tuhnin' an' dang-fool goin's-on you ever seed er hyard tell uv, thet feller made us go through wit'. An' nutthin' we did pleased the little cuss. My mar' got hot an' vexed, an' I neveh war so tired uv a man in my life. Toe cap it all, they piles up seve'l panels uv rail fences, an' makes us jump ouhaw hosses over in squads uv five. An' eveh time we jump, they puts on anotheh rail. Finally, I rid my mar' up to the jump - an' Gentlemun, hush! I goes over, but she don't. She put her fo' feet against the bottom rail, an' stops. But I goes right on over ....

An' w'en I gits time toe look aroun' th' camp, I don't see Thad Thomas, an' I don't see Otious Jones, an' I don't see Whitfield Ballangeh. Whar wuz they? Right at home wit' they wives, thet's whar they war, an' that's whar they stayed. An' w'en I gits home to talk to the boys an' fin out whut th' ruckus is all about, I fin's it's over nuthin' but a passel uv niggers!"

this is a rich take given that pretty much every nationally distributed tea brand has two varieties: hummingbird food in 20 different flavors, and one shitty "unsweetened" flavor with a bunch of phosphoric acid added so it tastes like pool water
Milo's extra sweet is the closest commercial tea to what I make at home
EXTRA sweet, not the regular sweet
I hate when they put shit in sweet teas that make it taste like artificial syrup

this might be haram, but I like making extra strong iced tea, then taking a can of soft fruit i.e. peaches, oranges, pineapple in 100% juice - NOT syrup - and throwing it into a food processor until it shreds up nicely, then I dump the it and all the juice into the tea. adjust tea:froots ratio as desired. makes a nice fruity sweet tea without too much sugar. also, turbinado or honey make a better sweet tea than plain white sugar, IMO.

Now I'm not from the South nor have I personally lived there but I'll share one interesting thing I learned; A majority of people from Southern states like to mix a bottle of coke with peanuts, seems like that was an easy sweet and savory snack to enjoy.

I'm having trouble visualizing then end result. Is it pulpy? I'd like to try it.

depends on how much you beat up the fruit in the processor. you can make it anywhere from chunky, to pulpy, to smooth. I like it a little pulpy so I can drink it with a straw to get all the fruity bits off the bottom.
