ok so this one time i was at walmart and they had like the phone attached to one of those poles in the middle of the store and the button for the PA - was labled and all and i didn't press it cause at the time i was with people and i didn't want to cause a thing so i guess what i really need to ask you is if it was appropriate to refrain from pressing the button or am i a wuss?

You should've farted really hard, as to press the button without your friends noticing.
Don't work on touchscreen and your friends might look at you in disgust.
