I've got 27 followers but I don't follow anyone myself. Does it just alert you when they post something? It seems annoying in practice unless the target is a lurker that rarely posts, or someone verified that interests you. I'm pretty satisfied with my 40,000 conversation notifications. Who are you following and why?

Have some followers, somehow am following one person. Only way I know if someone is following me is through a notice in Alerts. Very kind of them, hope what I post justifies their following me.

I follow some posters, but it is only meant as a kind of superlike. I don't have any notifications on and don't look obsessively at any poster's posts. I just want to say 'Hey, I think you are alright in general.'.

Recommended this info be put into various threads as a tutorial. If I don't know something, or something isn't readily apparent to me, figure others could be in the same situation. Educating posters doesn't cost - it pays, can save bandwidth, prevent bannings.

That's what we did many, many years ago, when testing large-scale computer-based training systems. Got one person at each workstation. They had a script. For example, everyone was to log in at the same time as part of a system increment acceptance test. When the system took nine minutes to respond, that was a test failure. We were all Boomers back then.

At the end, we had 460 people at workstations, participating in the final system acceptance testing, plus test staff, contractors, and the like. My job - test director for the using organization.
