Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
When someone wants to work on a browser they see they can make $$$$$$ working on Chrome or a Chromium fork or make $0 working on a fork of a browser with 2% market share. The demographics of people willing to work for $0 skew majorly towards ridiculous.
The guy making Ladybird has a decent amount of sponsors and seems to be doing well for himself. I can’t wait for it to actually become usable as a daily driver at some point within the next 5 years so I never have to use a Chromium browser ever again.

Phoronix: Intel Finds More Women Getting Involved In Open-Source, Maintainer Burnout Continues (archive)

"Women" in Open Source

1. "Survey", so automatically bullshit.

2. (((Women))), so you know it's automatically trannies.

3. What the fuck does "getting involved" even mean? Since we're talking about women that can only mean they posted on a mailing list because we know they don't code.

Intel is cancer.

As with any tech, it really depends on what your needs are and what you're willing to tolerate. I bet a vanilla JS & CSS savant can already make really good stuff that would work on Ladybird, but this isn't a majority of web developers. Big company makes website -> lazy solution to minimize Time To Market -> cheap devs, flavor of the month frameworks and abstractions out the ass -> it's all bloat and hacks because time = money -> only bother targeting Chrome because that's what 95% of users browse the Web with. If you happen to need something from this website and your only option is Ladybird, you're SOL. Trying to make another browser work with piles of shit like this is essentially turning it into Chrome 2.0.

The state of things is so bad that even some payment processor gateways only work reliably on Chrome, webshit is fucked.

I'd assume that OpenSource is the last place where something like this would matter, but people love to shove bullshit metrics they paid for to run with a narrative.
Here is the actual intel article.
The respondant pool is 334, this shouldn't be seen as any metric for anything, I bet they even cherrypicked who they got to respond.

:story:You think? I like that the year where Intel releases AI tech is the same year where they present phajeets in the poll and also the same year where they plaster it. It's like advertisement or something you know.

Intel is offering a programming AI now? I couldn't find anything about it.

Not specifically Programming AI but a big part if not all of Intel's efforts in Open Source is to try and push AI stuff, they aren't very secretive with this when they themselves talk about the initiative.
Also, with released AI Tech, I meant the OPEA shit,

The irony is indeed delicious, isn't it? It's like we're all in a digital guessing game. But hey, whether it's AI or human effort, the proof is in the pudding - or in this case, the post.

I rest my case right alongside yours...
I hate AI slop so much it's unreal.
Is there a single honest women in Open source contributing meaningfully?
I feel like any chick with the 'tism to program realized they'd be better off in the industry working on commercial software.
There's quite a few girlbosses doing CSS fixes and amending readmes.

remember when you could significantly modify the theming in your web browser?
Firefox UI styling is based on CSS. Any element of it can be skinned even with the mainstream version. Only caveat is the option to control this is called toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets and Mozilla has of course provided no information on what the future of this option is. Though if they do ever touch it, it'll cause an exceptional display of autism that Mozilla will almost certainly fold under the pressure of all the screeching.

On retard news.
The tranny in the LibreWolf team banned Lunduke from their Matrix server right after he joined for some questions.
I am now 🤏 this close to just installing GNU IceCat.
I get a feeling Librewolf is going to become a full blown Troonwolf in the coming months.
