Translation:I'm currently working on my own Debian-based distro with its own DE.
The DE is basically just a Windows 7-style panel and start menu that I wrote using QtQuick, though it does use Openbox as its window manager for now until I write my own.
I'll post a screenshot soon.
Would anyone be interested in checking it out and leaving some feedback if I release the ISO?
Unless you're lazy or a no coder you can take a look at the code yourself.Translation:
Hello fellow kiwidarmers!
I have an ISO here with some mystery-code on it. Would you be interested in running this mystery-code on your computer?
And so you went full bore into your own DE? You don't do things by halves, do you? I'll have a play with it over the weekend and see what it feels like.My distro was built because I got tired of people in this specific thread only complaining instead of making their own SneedOS.
I appreciate your kind words but it's really not that impressive. I had to learn programming and after that it took me quite some time to figure things out and to actually write it. All things considered I'm quite happy with it and as my first "large" project it taught me quite a few things. That being said, I wish I focused 100% on the DE and packaging it instead of messing around with Debian Live Build and making a Debian-based ISO. God. Maybe I should make better documentation and examples myself...And so you went full bore into your own DE? You don't do things by halves, do you? I will try it in a VM. I promise.Unless you're lazy or a no coder you can take a look at the code yourself.
The whole thing is about 3k loc so it shouldn't take forever to do so.
You can even build the binary packages, .deb archives and the ISO file yourself.
And here I thought I was a paranoid schizophrenic for even using Linux instead of Microsoft's latest cuckware...
Awesome! The ISO should be ready by tomorrow.I will try it in a VM. I promise.
As for paranoid schizophrenic? Yes, I think we all here on the farms probably are. As we should be.
It is my paranoid schizophrenia that has stopped Liz Fong-Jones from getting my doxx all these years :-)
The X handle typo has been fixed.@ashiredev just a heads up, your Xitter handle on your GitHub has a typo (AshrieSoftware) and your "HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!" video has one too: comming (or did you mean cumming?) soon. I hope you code more carefully than you type
Also, please don't be a sperg and plaster Hoppe (or Kiwi) everywhere. Including both as Easter eggs is fine, just don't overdo it.
Hoppe? Is that the mascot?@ashiredev just a heads up, your Xitter handle on your GitHub has a typo (AshrieSoftware) and your "HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!" video has one too: comming (or did you mean cumming?) soon. I hope you code more carefully than you type

What Init system does it use?If you need me to clear anything up, e.g., compiling the program, leave a message and I'll try to help.
Or you can just use the pre-built .deb packages under the releases page...
Shit. Another Void user. Never thought I'd see the day. After the whole hubbub and them throwing Juan out, it really went to the wayside. I gave up months ago. This is Debian based, so I'm guessing it's systemd unless you base it on Devuan. What Init system does it use?
I myself run Void linux as Runit just werks out of the box, i don't want any of that SystemD shit
Currently its based on vanilla Debian and it uses SystemD.What Init system does it use?

Personally, I neither care nor mind (Democracy, The God That Failed is on my to-read list), but with that little info out now, it was a bit on the nose:The Hoppe and kiwi stuff I wouldn't worry too much about.
If you plan to be systemd-free in the future, why not base your distro on Devuan? That way the removal part is already done and you "just" have to add your init.Currently its based on vanilla Debian and it uses SystemD.
There are some vague plans on writing my own init system eventually but that's not the #1 priority right now.
Isn't this basically just a personal army request?Would anyone be interested in checking it out and leaving some feedback if I release the ISO?
I made a Linux From Scratch and used it for two semesters in College. I thought that was kinda intense. I never made a window manager/DE.And so you went full bore into your own DE? You don't do things by halves, do you?
I think we all remember what happened to ClaireBear and Chudbuds cause the stupid cunt ran some binaries from some random 200MB blob of Minecraft "mods" someone sent her. Paranoia is justified. I like my SSH keys and I don't feel like reformatting all my servers and restoring from backups. As for paranoid schizophrenic? Yes, I think we all here on the farms probably are. As we should be.

Just use runit/s6/openrc .. making your own init-system will take you to SerenityOS levels of autism .. and at that point you should just contribute to Ladybird as that would have a greater impact on open source anyway.Currently its based on vanilla Debian and it uses SystemD.

Tell you what... we have a rather simple test for this sort of thing...Unless you're lazy or a no coder you can take a look at the code yourself.
