Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

Another "black hat" hacker who thought he would be remembered as a hero if he were to act against Russians, completely not taking into the account that he mostly would be dealing damage to people who do not have a say in their government policies and also, hiding so much dirt that when exposing himself, he became an easy target for real professionals on the field. He dug his own grave and hopefully pays for it for years. What a waste.
Nonono, don't you know, any Russian who isn't actively fomenting armed revolt against Putin is complicit in the murder and rape of every Ukrainian child and so the entire nation of 144 million deserves to burn?

This is why bullying is necessary. Too many American kids went their entire lives not being reminded they can have their shit pushed in. They think about all the glory but don't understand the risks. Especially considering he targeted foreign glowies.

So far, there's nothing to go off other than the poster's own word (like with Byuu). The account was created on Github less than 5 hours before posting. Some might call bs because of that, others might say that's because they made a throwaway to be anonymous. There's no identification of what NGO it is either but that could be chalked up to just wanting to be anonymous. The poster more or less implies that they don't have any backups, which sounds like would be the number one thing an organization this important wouldn't fuck up. On the other hand, there are many organizations (government and otherwise) that are shockingly incompetent, so it's really hard to tell. However, he's said they are going ahead with litigation, so we'll find out sooner or later if it's fake or gay

He will serve the same amount of time in jail as antifa members and all the other useful idiots that are part of Biden's America.

This is why he is acting as if nothing is wrong, because ultimately he won't face any real consequences once the internet loses interest in him; he will still have his job or he will be immediately hired elsewhere, his package will still be used everywhere because everyone is too lazy to fork it and he will be showered in praise for years to come for his bravery by his peers.

Give it three months and his life will fully go back to normal as he continues to collect and review fucking electric motorcycles for his youtube channel, it pisses me off beyond belief but that's sadly the reality of the world we live in right now.
I don't know. Rittenhouse is still free and those two antifa are still dead

Dude didn't just inconvenience people. He more then likely destroyed evidence of war crimes, last will's from dead soldiers, messages from trapped civilians and god knows what else.
I hope to fucking god he goes to jail because this is unambiguously a virus. You can't "file" criminal charges but you can ask a prosecuting attorney or law enforcement agency to look into it, but chances are - if this story is real - they definitely will.

Nah dude he's totally legally insulated, haven't you read the lines in the software license where it says 'as is' and 'not liable for any damages'?

"This is fair use and you can't sue me" - every youtube music piracy and/or movie clip video for the past 20 years

I wonder if he's done the "but I was just starting a conversation" defense yet.

This cunt's so fucking stupid.

1. Fucking with Russians on the internet.
2. Fucking with the OSS community.
3. Making his code so shit that it literally fucked with anyone using a Russian/Belarusian ip, regardless or not whether or not they were Russian - therefore probably only doing damage to regular citizens and low-value organisations before being found out.

Cunt coulda at least downloaded a list of known Russian Mil CIDR/IPs and only targeted them. May have had the potential at doing something then,

Either way, I hope some someone in the US sues this cunt or something.

Edit: I say low value coz any large government/media organisation updating packages from NPM repo without vetting every version of every dependency used is probably deserving of being hacked.

This "I hope you all learned a lesson about open source software" attitude is infuriating. It's like when I hit a car after it turned left against a red light and the driver tried to say, "Yeah, I ran the red light, but didn't you learn to keep an eye out for the drivers around you?"

I know you're being sarcastic but I think that only applies to accidental damage.
I'm not so sure. I'd definitely be interested in hearing some arguments either way even if this doesn't end up going to court, but just from my armchair it seems pretty clear to me that all the major licenses have the "at your own risk" thing locked down. Is there precedent for intentional maliciousness being an exception to such statements?
