Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

But who are you going to believe, your lying eyes or your friend Hector who tells you all Japanese are cheap fuckers who put their relatives (who apparently they consider garbage) in cheap mass-made urns from China that cost $500 for 100 of them.
Hector being a lying cunt and Japanese people stuffing their dead relatives in bootleg Chinese cookie jars are not mutually exclusive.

Most importantly of all though, I found this tweet where Hector posted a picture of two temples he said were a few meters from his house.

It's really not very complicated at all; it's a symbol that's been in use for about 12,000 years at least, for a whole host of purposes.

Calling a symbol that's been used by countless cultures for thousands of years for all sorts of usages a "backwards Nazi flag" is a good example of cultural imperialism.

It's also "I'm 14 and I just discovered something!!!!!111" material; doesn't everyone know this? Swastikas were widely used in Europe, too. Wait until he finds out about the Irish Swastika Laundry (founded in 1912 – the Nazis adopted the iconic red angled swastikas flag in 1920, at which point they were still an extremely obscure minor faction in German politics):

The entire reason the Nazis adopted it was for the the same reason the adopted a lot of Norse mythology stuff: the weird Nazi mysticism.

Crosspost from the Musk twitter thread. A developer (the one who owns the socials) behind LineageOS, an open-source Android fork, is sperging out over Musk for whatever reason, and sticking it to those dastardly right wingers by posting receipts of donating to abortion funds.

A LineageOS co-founder is throwing a tantrum over suggestions that Elon base an Android fork on LineageOS. He's donating to pro-abortion organizations as slight to his dastardly fascist internet enemies.

I just wanted to give some spotlight to GrapheneOS. Even though I still prefer LineageOS on day to day basis, GrapheneOS's reply should be a standard reply for every open source project. Its truly shameful that its something to be given praise for, in this politically ridden open source software landscape.

Louis Rossmann said the guys behind GrapheneOS are genuinely dedicated to their principles of security and privacy. After seeing the shameful behavior of Tom Powell and LineageOS, I have to say GrapheneOS wins by default.

Welp, I will be buying my next phone with an eye on Graphene compatibility.
Same, though they only currently target Pixel phones, so a second hand one would be preferred if you don't want to give money to google.

This activism bullshit is starting to really restrict my choices. Lineage has been incredibly useful for getting more life out of older android hardware. I'm using an old samsung tablet with it, which runs better now than it ever did with the stock rom on board.

If I have to be honest, I don't really care whatever trannies or normal people develop my software. No matter how much CoC they splatter across their repos I will do whatever the fuck I want with the tools they provide. I will still be using LineageOS no matter what they would do, because in the end its my smartphone, and if they try to stop me, its not like I can compile my own build without their retardation or use an older version.
This is also why most programming languages don't matter, it's what you program that's important and not who develops your stuff. They can cry how much they want but its ultimately 1 and 0 that they help you to make for the cause they don't like.

The best way to troll these people is to use their product without contributing a dime to their projects.

that's not even trolling - it's the principle of the license(s) they either chose or accepted for the project.

the best way to troll free or open source software developers is to persistently make unreasonable demands of them, and criticize them for not complying.

that would be tranny-tier fucked up though, nobody should be stooping that low

You say that, but every year or so somebody, usually a person of gender or genderspecial-adjacent, posts a thinkpiece going on how it's a bad thing open source developers aren't being paid for their work and please please please donate to them. The most recent one was when Log4J happened and they argued it was because nobody paid open source developers.

I don't necessarily disagree. It's just getting to the point where projects that I have to use in a professional setting are starting to become a liability, because there's no knowing if some activist dev might drop a retarded logic bomb into a release and break shit for stupid reasons. Again. It's made me wary, whenever devs or project maintainers start spouting off like this.

In short, the problem isn't that they're raging trannies. It's that they're unprofessional as shit. And that's a terrible look when you're trying to deliver a product that's supposed to be stable. Doubly so if you're claiming to offer long-term support, because those projects have a habit of imploding over interpersonal drama. Sure, that's not uncommon in free software projects to begin with, but it happens way too often with developers that care more about political affiliation than providing a good product.

it's irrelevant what some moralfag posts, the internet's full of shit, doesn't mean it matters.

corporations function on contracts, not donations. if log4j was so important to them, they should have pursued contracts with the developers. they were remiss if they were unexpectedly stung.

donation culture is essentially busking, most developers don't give much of a fuck about a trickle of donations, assuming they even bother asking.

100% this.

I remember that Sury issue that Dear Feeder was asking about back in September on their GitHub page, where he had a legitimate complaint and then provided a correct workaround himself, all the while as the repo owner messed with him and dicked around, before finally putting up a tailored block list so Josh couldn't download his packages anymore. (Because that's what open means, right? You can unilaterally pick and choose who gets to use your code?)

I remember reading all of that and thinking exactly that: it's unprofessional as fuck, makes the open-source community look like a bunch of clowns larping at software development, and gives off the impression that any project is only as stable as the temperament of its developer on any given day. (Kudos to the lads in the GitHub message chain that chimed in asking the dev what the fuck he thought he was doing.)
