If PulseAudio is so great then why does ALSA (widely regarded as a mess) work fine with a little tweaking?
Because programmers. Pulseaudio isn't really a down to the metal sound driver system like ALSA. It's a 'sound server' that sits atop it. Without Pulse or something like it you can't really do volume per application, or handle different sample rates easily, etc, etc.

Unlike most Lennartware, I don't think people would have a problem with what it does, if it wasn't frequently 'what's jacking up my sound'. (Also unlike most Lennartware, now that I think about it, it embodies the Unix 'layering' fetish that makes kernel devs hate ZFS and embrace the mess that is Reiser4 btrfs.)
You think you're hearing the computer? That's the sound of your transphobia, shitlord.
I call it Straightwave.

This might have been true when chucklenuts started writing Pulse, but hasn't been true in years. ALSA can do so much of PulseAudio's job now that there's even a compatibility shim over ALSA for folks who can't stand Pulse. https://github.com/i-rinat/apulse

This makes my gut clench because M1 is really decent hardware, and the person who is in charge of porting linux to it happened to be the most stupid kernel developer that walked the earth. Look at his pull request wrong and he will be vague posting and stomping his feet in a tantrum for a week. I have no idea how the fuck this moron even got so far into kernel development given that Torvalds and others are one of the most down to earth and no huggy-feely, no-fucks-given project maintainers. I think it's why he "changed his mind" about upstreaming the Asahi Linux because just so many people would not put up with his bullshit. Unless someone sane takes over M1 Linux development we will probably never see Linux on the M1.

Hector's still a dickhead, but I am a little sympathetic here. If you contribute to a large open-source project, the likelihood that you'll have to deal with a maintainer who's a prima donna or retarded or both is pretty high. But he's making north of £30k a year on his Patreon from this, which sort of takes away his right to complain.

Also, while checking this I did kek at the fact his top Patreon tier is "Exceptional Endorser". He's certainly exceptional.

Even if Hector hadn't spun the whole bullshit story about byuu or wasn't teetering on the edge of trooning out himself, I still wouldn't touch Asahi Linux because Mr. Rosenzweig, the man who's responsible for the GPU driver on M1 is also a tranny.

And a brony, apparently.

Good call, friend. Those are excellent reasons to steer clear of Asahi.

ETA: Actually that YouTube vid isn't him, but he references it at the end of his pony physics autism paper that I linked.

It's pretty retarded to claim someone who can fly has the same density as. . .umm never mind.

I don't know what to tell you. The lad did the math. He even cross-references with Redditor expert opinion to make sure he's not just talking nonsense about the mass of his fictional little-girl ponies.

The UNIX model, if a ball of whatever shit two idiots in the 1970s had laying around could even be called that, is undeniably bad, but SystemD makes it even worse. I like the term an acquaintance uses for someone like Poettering, a wrecker. They're hired to infiltrate and wreck things so that they refuse to work reasonably, or gain onerous requirements. Trannies who receive corporate money for what amounts to running a protection racket with harassment instead of firebombs are more obviously wreckers, but both groups are wreckers.

However, logs should be structured as, say, easily machine-readable records appended or otherwise stored somewhere, not a wasteful message intended for humans that will likely need to be understood by a machine as well. It's much easier to make a record human-readable than a line of variable characters a proper record.

The moralfagging is so tiring.
They support this shit because it means those nasty volunteers are wasting their time rather than properly competing with Apple, Google, and MicroSoft. Even better, it helps to drive away the intelligent people. At best, those companies may change their documentation, but they're just having some idiots or machines doing it anyway, so it's no loss to them.

He made up some math is what he did
The math is wrong because its over simplified. This is grade 12 level of physics, which is very advanced for a brony anyway. There are some lavish assumptions like about the pony mass, the gravitational constant of the eqwhatever planet or the fact that the pony is accelerating at a constant rate. But the wrongest assumption is no air resistance. Whatever the air resistance coefficient Cx would not be, air drag force is proportional to the square of velocity. What this means is that for an object as light as a pony, at speeds near mach-1 the air resistance will be a few orders of magnitude bigger than any other force acting on the pony and that his model does not make any sense at all. So he made up the entire math.

And the most lolworthy part is that he could have done it right and leave the air drag coefficient as an unresolved sybol that could later be calculated numerically based on some 3d model and pricy software, and that would be something actually carrying scientific or educational value.

Instead he just tried (and failed) at impressing other idiots with Kinematics 101 dick slinging with fancy words which makes it just pathetic.

archive just because it's so funny.

The moralfagging is so tiring.
I will fight the establishment tooth and nail but god forbid I'm drafted for an actual war! (archive)

it's even worse when you look at the history of ALSA and linux sound.

tbh at this point everyone should stop being turbofags and just use OSS (again). if it's good enough for freebsd, it certainly is for linux.
