The FOSS Git repository hosting service Codeberg has a problem with spam from a user named "truth" making issues with the title "NIGGER BALLS" (based?) with message text that would mention hundreds or even thousands of users at a time (archive of an issue reporting it). At the time Codeberg posted a pretty normal response that they are aware of the issue on Mastodon.

After the dust settled the "Codeberg public relations team" then publishes a blog post related to it that decries the hecking chuds in open source that write "NIGGER BALLS" to intimidate marginalized folx, and posted about it on Mastodon to pat themselves on the ass cheek for making such a grand statement to save the honor of Free software. Truly brave.

Codeberg has been reported to Polizei by users who received a "nigger balls" email and had to explain themselves, there is a police case ongoing against them

We have indeed filed a complaint regarding yesterday's spam attack, but this was primarily intended to divert investigations away from us, as the users concerned have apparently reported us. We've all heard the horror stories of small providers being raided for no good reason.

I've noticed this too. From western media and even niche content to even funding pages for niche Japanese games. It never fails and it's bigger than the trend of mandatory troons on every moderator/social team or actual staff. It's always a community leader or something. The only thing bigger of a guarantee is a troon, or 2 or 3 on every western gaming, tech or media news site. Even if there are just like 3 or 4 people in total.. one of them is going to be someone LARPing as the other sex and their entire professional and personal nature is going to be dictated by it. Not just that, but the telemetry slurps up the netire contents of the repo you're running it in, and sends it to their servers.
