Is there an actual reason to dislike Eris S Raymond or is he just washed up? There's a reason we know who he is but that was like 40 years ago lol

From the home page looks like it could be streaming live so I definitely recommend an independent recording of the bicha talk, should it proceed.

I think the odds of anything interesting happening, like heckling, a probing question, or a joke relating to his current situation, are very low. But it should be archived live. I assume the 720p RTMP stream is the one to go for.

I'd say he's in a similar box as Noam Chomsky— one-hit-wonders who still make music, but only to a small fanbase since they can't replicate that big hit.

Florida has two tiers for perpetrators of sex crimes: sexual offender and sexual predator. The latter is reserved for people who commit especially heinous crimes and are likely to reoffend.

He's just an obnoxious, out-of-touch boomercon who hasn't done anything since the 00s. It doesn't help that he blamed some of his biggest flubs like CML2 on Linus personally hating him for his politics instead of his software just not being very good.

For clarification- Bitchass is listed as a predator.

Edit: the address listed on his profile is 1205 Princeton Ave Bradenton, FL 34207. I looked at the county assessors office and he is the owner. Bought it in 2021.

2. He's too much of a bloviating jackass to admit he was wrong about any of it.

His five minutes of fame came from stabbing RMS in the back just when O'Reilly needed him to, as well as vandalizing the Jargon File with Unix shit and his own politisperging. He's also just an annoying blowhard in general who latches onto groups like a barnacle. He tried this with Gamergate if I remember correctly. While the article isn't about him, I can't shit on ESR without quoting this:
I blame Eric Raymond and to a lesser extent Dave Winer for bringing this kind of schlock writing onto the Internet. Raymond is the original perpetrator of the "what is a hacker?" essay, in which you quickly begin to understand that a hacker is someone who resembles Eric Raymond.

Why would France care? They import thousands of people every year from religions where it's required.

And it doesn't look like there's any visa required for France as a US Citizen.

Looks like this will be changing in 2026 with the requirement for an ETIAS, electronic travel authorization, which will ask criminal questions.

Hopefully this means in 2026 and later he will not be able to travel to the EU.

In addition to the reasons above, there was some project he tried to take over and get all the cred, but the name escapes me right now, I know they had a good page sperging about him. Anyways a lot of the people who worked with him said that his code is shit. I will look for the source of this, but I need some time to remember what project that was.
