So. I guess good to know people can fairly easily poison llm data sets.
Poisoning LLMs is trivial. All you have to do is re-feed it AI-generated data and it eats itself. This problem has been known for years now, and I'm surprised that it's just now starting to be talked about.

I'm pissed at Intel being dickheads as otherwise we'd have an x86 phone that would be easy to run linux on
Nah. Similar to what I mentioned here trying to run x86 on a mobile device is basically a fool's errand, especially when you're at a really small form factor like a phone or even a tablet. You really need low power for that to avoid killing your tiny battery, let alone cooking the electronics, so that's why ARM took off and we saw SOCs be so readily adopted. Unless you want a literal return to the 80s brick phone.

I am also skeptical that any good fruit will come of this LibrePhone initiative but I wish them the best. The proprietary nature of my phone really irks me. PinePhone just wasn't it.
generally when it comes to gnu shit, if it ever gets finished within 50 years it will be pretty good
and by "pretty good" that could mean anywhere from above average to best-in-class

If you're talking about the "model collapse" paper, the experiments were performed on extremely small toy models which were basically fed only garbage. Real life LLMs are trained on synthetic data all the time, with good results.

Idk about the last bit, anecdotal point here but it does say something that till now OpenAI still has the chronic piss filter clinging on to their image models less realistic generated outputs, I can't really see how synthetic data is good (long term) for LLMs in general either, in concept it should be fine because all the data is vetted, but in practice the odds bad self-reinforcing habits embed themselves into artificial training data over several model generations is a non-zero chance prospect, and you might only really notice it when it gets particularly bad after the fact.

It will probably come to nothing or only be available on phones over $3k, but nonetheless...

Like how grok adds an extra chin ever time I ask it to revise a pug picture

Time for all the corposhitters to get felted by GNUisance technology. Say it with me now: green is my pepper!

Remember this? Well, one of the perpetrators of this "joke" ended up getting his entire GitHub account banned over it.

The PR in question:

lol stupid tranny. Also so fucking rich: "everyone gets offended (while most of you never and will never send a patch to the LKML) as soon as queer shit is mentioned (...)"
No shit, dumbass - hearing about faggots is tedious.

My name appears in the kernel, or did, they may have finally replaced all that code, and although it was a tiny patch it's still more useful than a tranny will be in their entire life.

Alright, so back on the subject of stupid cheap hardware for dumb little project boxes to run software on your home network - apparently there's an even cheaper option than Thin Clients for the amount of RAM and CPU you get, and that's digital signage boxes. For some reason the corpos that make these things have a habit of putting full fat laptop CPUs in the stupid damned things for a while, and nowadays under $100 can get you a Seneca box with an 11th-gen mobile i3 if you keep your eyes open. Don't get me wrong, they don't seem to come with full-sized PCI-e slots like a lot of your higher-end thin clients (e.g. the HP T740) do, but that's a good bit more CPU than even the best thin clients...

It's interesting. Maybe a CPU sidegrade from ye olde Skylake quad-core boxes, but the 48 EU graphics is faster. i3-1111111115G4 is notable for basically being Intel's last mainstream dual-core chip (that people actually bought, nobody cares about the Pentium Gold G7400). Not bad, but Shrek'd pretty hard by the i3-1215U that replaced it.

I'm surprised they banned him. I will still be surprised if they don't unban him. This tranny will screech till the end of time for Github to unban him, because trannies never take "no" for an answer.

I think a big part of the issue with the pinephone was from what I have heard the hardware wasn't great from the beginning. There were some nice things about it iirc. Like hardware switches. But just having a phone with decent specs to start with is going to be important. Then, obviously having the software to match.

One promising thing about a future for linux on mobile is actually wayland. It seems like a lot of work and thought has gone into having it work on things like touch screen displays, and kiosk style uses. And for a long time the desktop use-case for it, sort of got the backseat. That has changed over time. With the big desktop environments either all moving to it, or in the process of moving to it.

Hopefully if the graphical side of things are worked out. The other big thing will be just having a decent phone, and sms app that work well.

That, and I wonder if there could be issues with actually getting cellular services functioning correctly on linux. Without having to do something like relying on googles services for it. I think that should be doable. But Idk that's definitely outside of anything I really know about.

x11 with modern features like libinput (they basically backported most of wayland's touch screen capability to x11 and removed about 50 xorg.conf configuration footguns at the same time by making it use libinput) can do touchscreens sort of ok
the real problem is the programs: every retard who wrote a gtk app in 2007 thought it would be running on desktops and completely failed to think about phones

these programs will need to made able to work on a phone. this is hard, painful, grueling work; responsive user interfaces get exponentially more complex with every tiny feature you add, and some of the programs we love are incredibly complicated
but if emacs has an .apk i guess anything is possible

this is by far the hardest problem a free phone will face
you can have free software compositors and an sms app easily; lineageos and 97 other roms do it every day
they just use android's special snowflake stack and not gnu/linux desktop

https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/

Their device range is very, very limited and quite dated in comparison to current mainline phones, but from what I gather they have everything except VOLTE calls working.

Now consider if Apple released an iOS update that makes your phone explode because you visited the farms and thus got flagged as a nah-tzee. Of course they'd get litigated out of their ass by bloodthirsty jews smelling that sweet sweet class action lawsuit money, and so they're very fucking wary of doing that.
Legal issues have never stopped these companies in the past. If the legal consequences are outweighed by the profits of doing something illegal. They take the illegal option every single time.

this one is just because you mentioned apple. But it's not like any of these big software companies are any different. They all do this shit. They get fines. Then they keep doing it. They never face anything big enough to make them stop. The only actual consequence that will ever make them actually consider changing. Is if people stop buying their shit. And most people won't do that because of copes like yours.

It is a tranny. Trannies always lie. They always say they did nothing wrong.

For all we know , maybe he was using github to distribute child rape porn?
Who knows. But it sure as hell was not because of a harmless joke pull request.

It's just fucking spam, nuke that shit from orbit. As always the tranny covenant of conduct protects but does not bind. Can't have a single platform for getting serious work done, bowing for every tranny sideshow of the day is more valuable to these cucks.
