Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

Crossposting from Francis' thread:

One man thread update: Francis is being based again. Such a damn shame he trooned out, could very well have been a champion for purist non-partisan FOSS with these kinds of stances, if only he wasn't afflicted with the mind virus. There is not a day I do not lament his loss. Still doing good work, can't deny that.
Post #1: this is how we do things in leah town

https://codeberg.org/libreboot/lbwww/commit/b01b2baececffb2868910ce867b14de59e45f24c

i also set +r on the channel - require nickserv account to join. making one requires reading instructions on libera.chat

i now predict the quality of participation will increase. this is in pre-emptive self defense for when x86 chromebooks are in libreboot by next release, because i expect a lot of silly windows users will want to use windows with libreboot for some reason.

this is an inherently elitist policy, and it shall stand.

Post #2:
however, the documentation will link to a bunch of resources for such people, including utilities for installing drivers and such, and copy a lot of documentation from other sources e.g. chrultrabook - but without linking to any resources other than libreboot's own pages.

this way, a windows user seeing x86 chromebook/tianocore in libreboot won't know any other resource - except we put up blocks against their ever asking for help.

i may even shut down the subreddit. make it private. we'll see.

Post #3:
but i will *also* be heavily promoting libreboot for chromebooks, specifically to attract windows users - but then systematically shut them out, deny them any real possibility of actually getting set up and running.

the documentation will be *just* plausible ennough that they're like oh, ok, now i can use windows. but nope.

and then the documentation will very aggressively promote free softtware ideology, and strongly recommend linux/bsd.

i'll be promoting free software ideology so damn hard.

Post #4:
and the linux/bsd instructions will be easy, complete with pictures, and lots and lots of useful information.

why bother with anything else?

this is what the chrultrabook and mrchromebox projects do wrong, socially. they're kind to windows users, even benevolent. but windows users don't give a shit about free software, or what you want to do. windows users are the most parasitic of all; they just want to play some games on their chromebooks.

we should only be promoting free operating systems.

like that's gonna spook Framework and not hurt GNOME :story:
So I decided to check which tier of sponsorship Framework was on, and saw that they're literally one of two corporate sponsors: (archive)

So I guess this is somehow different from all the other corpos listed on the main page. And, realistically, with Framework's size, no, it's not going to hurt GNOME. Even in terms of being the default Linux DE, as Framework only offers Windows as a pre-installed OS option.

The point is that it's rare to see GNU GPL on new projects. You made the rest up in your head so you can be mad at something.
That's because everything is a side hustle these days and every single chucklefuck imagines themselves as an aspiring entrepreneur. What if my Javascript slop is accidentally adopted by a large business? Even that 0.00001% of potential money justifies an MIT/BSD license if you're that kind of person.

GPL at least has a veneer of telling the corpos to fuck off and some lawyers might advise not touching the code. GPL + Nigger is the future.

Which is still retarded, as you just need to license it under (A)GPL and add a note that you're open to negotiations regarding a special paid license. With a cuck license nobody will even care to ask.

gotta have 4 trillion people using your node package so you can pad your resume

Actually, hear me out here: I think the true way may just be GPL + No Niggers. If you want to use my GPL + NO NIGGERS code, you must not employ any niggers of any kind, where niggers is very broadly defined (i.e. Jeets, Chinks, Jews, etc). If you are unwilling to accede to this, or if a court declares this unenforceable, then you do not have any right to the use of my code, and must pay to use it.

Who's willing to contribute to the Fascist Software foundation?

What exactly did he do besides speak the truth?

Well, now I get why nothing gets done at least. It's delusional sodomites in skirts pushing cultish shit instead of code.

(Still not using wayland tho)
How can people pretend their opinion should matter while posting on that site. Posting on any site that requires me to switch my vpn server 10 times to find one no ip banned, to even view the content on the page, automatically invalidates anything you have said, before I even read it.

Really. I think that's the most frustrating thing about reddit blocking vpn IP's it's not like they're stopping people from using a vpn to post a bunch of spam, or troll people. You can't even read what's there, you wouldn't be able to post anyway because you need to have an account to post.

It's not like I'm saying anything groundbreaking, redditors are nigger-cattle, it's been well known since the beginning of time. But I think redditors that still use it in 2025. Are the most pure bread nigger cattle alive. Where redditors in 2013 had some plausible deniability of their nigger-cattledome.

Every time I see someone linking to a post on that site for something. It annoys me, because I know I'm going to have to repeat the same thing. Switch vpn's until it finally works. Someone on their linked to https://world.hey.com/dhh/as-i-remember-london-e7d38e64

And my immediate thought was. Thank god at least I know when I click on that the site is just going to work, just like every single other site on the fucking internet. I fucking hate reddit.

just like every single other site on the fucking internet.
there are a thousand little websites that will block you for no reason
now it probably works on your vpn, but have you ever tried going to the linux mint website over tor? you will immediately get cucked by some bullshit "security page"
ever try going to freesound.org over tor? it isn't even nice enough to give you an error page, you will just time out

strangely enough connecting to reddit over tor isn't often that much of a hassle

Nah. I basically never use tor. I especially prefer a trusted vpn over tor for the clearnet. For just that reason really. Generally most things at this point aren't blocking mullvad/proton. It's pretty rare outside of reddit that it blocks me. Besides the weirdness that could potentially happen with tor, if you got really unlucky with the tor nodes you landed on. You also really stick out in internet traffic as a tor user on the clearnet. Using a vpn is still slightly unusual traffic, but won't stick out quite as much as tor, especially not now days. With how much more common they are getting. The main reason besides all of that. Is tor is noticably slower than using a vpn, at least every time I have used it. It's painfully slow in comparison.

I just use libredirect: https://libredirect.github.io/

...add some well maintained redlib instances to the list.
