Why does everything criticism of Rust get met with such a massive cult response? I see it everywhere, someone asks why Rust, and the entire cult shows up. Then they act clueless when called out.

Probably because of the large base of trannies, and tranny dick suckers that use rust. Its not everyone, but it just has to be a vocal minority.

The behavior of the rust cultists is pretty much identical to the way these people acted a couple years ago with the trans shit. These people are terminally online and have been trained to have a Pavlovian response where they rage out over things they disagree with. It doesn't matter what is said, or who is saying it. They view disagreement, or criticism as an attack. It's all emotion, no critical thought.

So to me it makes sense that they act like that. It's one reason I've always refused to use platforms that are based around short form content, like twitter, or video platforms like tiktok. People always talk about them harming attention span. I've never been concerned about that. I've just seen the way people that use those sites/apps act. It really does train people to only look for short 2 to 3 sentence pieces of information, or 1 to 2 minute videos. Then form an opinion, or have an immediate emotional response from that. Without realizing it's happening.

I think a lot of this stuff stems from social media. And the way it manipulates how people think. I at least recommend people never use any of the short form content platforms. It doesn't just create these leftist freaks. It fucks with everyones brain.

In other words, you should announce the release of your comment, and its main and top-billed feature is "Written in Rust"

Funny thing: I'm not much into open source, but I tend to look around programming. Regardless, I had a feeling that Rust-troons have this (perhaps truthful) idea that "criticism against the programming language is a dog whistle of criticism against trannies". Guess you are the first one to confirm this rumour.

Yes, but I think it's more the fact that they're the same terminally-online narcissists who attach their ego to a given project or product (say, for example, Linux or Macintosh), and then become incapable of accepting criticism thereof because all such criticism is viewed as a personal attack. Such people invariably gravitate towards trooning out as a get-out-of-criticism-free card. They're not conditioned to this behavior... they just use it as a convenient outlet for their existing psychosis.

Basically, yes, but with the caveat noted above.

I've always preferred mailing lists and web forums for the same reason. If your response is no more than a few sentences it can (and probably should) be dismissed with nothing more than a "LOL, OK FGT". Typically the best way to deal with these people is to deal in topics that require an immense amount of actual study and actual practice (i.e. not larping with wikipedia) and where their gesticulations are met with ever more creative ways of humiliating them for sucking dicks. Once they realize people are laughing at them and they can't get you banned (nor the forum taken down) they fuck off.

Social media has a way of magnifying psychoses by connecting like-minded retards rather than silencing their retardation and not-so-subtly telling them to go take their meds. In this regard I want to support something like the bills being circulated to keep kids off social media, but not where "social media" is broadly defined, and not where it requires the rest of us to show id to call people a faggot online. It is a most vexing situation.

Maybe we should all go back to BBSs so the trannies won't follow.

With these the problem might be the way they are implemented. I would say it's incompetence, and ignorance that leads to the way countries end up crafting laws to deal with this. But in this case I have a hard time believing it. Mostly because of the decades long track record of them trying to pass these laws "to save the kids", that would do nothing to help kids, and instead make it easier to track communications, and tie things to people.

Like one of the big ones I always bring up is end-to-end encryption. There are multiple places that have tried at various times in the past to ban end-to-end encryption. With the stated goal to "save the kids". Anyone be able to see how absurd that is on it's face. Or more recently the U.K. attempting to fuck with the ability to use a VPN. To enforce their shitty online safety act. I should dig up the clip of some faggot in the government saying not to use vpns to get around the regulation to "keep the kids safe". As if an adult using a vpn has any bearing on whether children are in harms way. It's the same shit every time. In the case of this vpn thing in the UK it's especially bad. Because the last I knew they have more arrests for social media posts than countries like Russia. Now people aren't going to even be able to use a vpn without it being tied to their government ID.

I could go on, and on about this because it's one of the things I actually care about a lot. But I'll stop here.

I do think it's important to keep kids off of these apps, and sites. However, the only way to fight this is from the parents end. It takes effort. But if people rely on the government to fix the issue, 1 they actually are incompetent at everything they do. 2 they don't actually care about peoples kids 3 they will just do it in a way that makes it impossible to post anything without it being directly tied to you're name. Because it directly benefits them to do so. And it's the laziest possible way to do it.

Got this article on my feed: zig libc (archive)
The article itself is whatever, just announces that there's some progress in implementing libc in Zig, which would allow them to utilize their toolchain better and drop unneeded dependencies on musl and mingw. Fine, pretty cool.
And then there's this flashbang to close it off:

Zig exists so Andrew Kelley can force his opinions on code formatting onto people. It makes sense that it also exists to force his opinions on politics onto them.

If you updated Notepad++ between the period of June and December last year, you may have a chinese virus.
The developer is being extremely vague about it.
Not sure I understand how the attack works. Are the files on the website itself infected or are the infected files only delivered via updates?

I downloaded the portable version that can't update around july of last year, so in the timespan when it was used as an attack vector. Am I at risk?

The original announcement by the N++ guy included a secondary source of some security researcher.
While reporting references both plugin replacement and updater-related mechanisms, no definitive artifacts were identified to confirm exploitation of either. The only confirmed behavior is that execution of “notepad++.exe” and subsequently “GUP.exe” preceded the execution of a suspicious process “update.exe” which was downloaded from 95.179.213.0.
If the portable version has no GUP.exe, you may be safe. Regardless, the same article lists the malware's file and network indicators.

In the linux thread they've done a whole outline on some project they've been working on for months now. I have no idea what it is, because i missed the beginning of it, and because of how long the posts are that go over it. I haven't wanted to go back and catch up to know what's going on.

My point is, I don't think they're a minor based on that. Although I guess you never know.

I think the average tranny respecter got the memo that's it's a weapon so they treat it like you're forcefully disarming them. And they're not wrong and shouldn't be allowed to wield anything more useful than a spork.
