Well, that was the reason I thought the focus on open source was so weird when the chardet news broke, there's an incredible amount of "source available" proprietary software, including Windows, that could be "liberated" with LLM rewrites (RIIR jokes aside).
It wasn't really much of a serious question for Null (since he wants to do it properly), though I wondered how bad directly translated PHP to rust would look.
In case anyone else wants to see PHP code "converted" to e. g. Rust, I found this simple demo thing (allows you to select to/from language for arbitrary source code, no idea which claude model backs it): https://claude.ai/public/artifacts/66739932-5e3f-45b6-adaa-9748c5133e49

I was still surprised that if you prompt Claude it can dump what I can only guess is valid XF php and database tables. While I never tried to run any of it, It did allow me to understand why certain parts of the website seem to function a certain way.

Yeah, hence the debate: niggerlicious vs based. Reverse engineering immediately sprung up as one of the big + points for AI, including a potential XenForo rewrite on Null's end since, again, it isn't Free Software. My issue is with the bigger implication of copyright laundering one way or the other. On one hand going from $PROPRIETARY_TRASH_LICENSE => Free Software License sounds very good in theory, going from Free Software License => Cuck License is much less appealing. Chardet has the latter issue, it goes from a GNU Free Software license to a permissive license that grants more liberties to corporations to rip and reuse said code freely. And the "hurr durr can't enforce the GPL CHUD!!!" is moot because pretty much any big closed-source-only corpo refuses to touch (A)GPL code with a ten foot pole.

Its not as bad for the present issue since I assume any XenForo fork/rewrite would be purely intended for use by the KiwiFarms, and it going from proprieatry to I assume MIT/BSD is still a win for Free Software at the end of the day. Troon soylems are unlikely to stop laundering GPL > MIT, so there is merit to the idea of re-laundering MIT/$PROPRIETARY_TRASH to GPL as well, though RMS and the FSF are deliberating how to handle AI generated code licensing, which is definitely something to keep an eye on.

GNOME is not meeting their t-girl dick sucking quota and the community is upset because the queue to get their dick sucked is too long. Also I note the treasurer is a jeet so how long until the money vanishes?

I don't understand how Gnome can fuck this up so badly.

In my experience the KDE community has always been more diverse (in every sense), and was also one of the first to introduce a CoC, but their CWG seems to have acted absurdly rationally and well (in comparison to everyone else).

I guess it could just be down to individual members, iirc the KDE CWG was literally composed (in part) of grandmothers (like Mamarok), and not power-hungry people trying to gain something from participating in the process.

There's some political spergs etc. in the KDE community as well (and some spokespersons iirc), but the community itself seems to work pretty well.

2. Make specious arguments that every other DE is written by Nazis
3. Cancel anyone who disagrees with you
