I beg your pardon that this story is not strictly open source related, but I think it fits with the woke nonsense elsewhere in this thread: Firing up the Yelp app today, I found out that Yelp is going to start labeling businesses which are "black-owned"' so that you can more easily take race into account when making your purchasing decisions. Article from their blog (a):

Over the coming weeks, we will launch a new free searchable attribute that will give businesses a way to identify themselves as Black-owned, and make it easy for users to find and support Black-owned businesses on Yelp. This attribute will be opt-in only as the decision to self-identify as Black-owned should rest solely with the business.

We’ve been inspired by the outpouring of requests for this feature from users who want to support Black businesses. In fact, over the last week we saw a 25x increase in the frequency of searches for Black-owned businesses across categories on Yelp compared to the same time last year. We’ve also heard from businesses that they want a simple way to highlight that they’re Black-owned — in February, we sent out “Black-Owned” window decals for businesses to proudly display on their storefronts. As we work quickly to launch this new Black-owned business attribute within two weeks, our Community team is curating Collections of local Black-owned businesses across the country for our users to support in the meantime.

The "clown world" meme is overused, but Jesus. Honk freakin' honk.

Surely there's a case that could be made, if someone's bold enough to make it, that it's discriminatory that Asian-owned or Latino-owned businesses can't be labeled as such on Yelp too. Then surely white-owned businesses would have to be able to identify too… oh, is that verboten? Then WNs can just assume that every business that doesn't identify as minority-owned is therefore white-owned and just shop at those, so it's effectively the same anyway.

Let's see, how many other ways could this go wrong? I'm sure I can think of some more if you give me a minute.

This is gonna turn out the same way as the Koshcertify app, where it ends up being a blacklist where nobody buys the things they list. I can't believe they're this stupid. I'm a pessimist, but even my wildest imaginings are nothing compared to how :story: this is.

I wonder if all those people, if doxed, would be found to live in 90%+ white areas.
Geto Boys said it best: Real gangsta ass niggas don't flex nuts 'cause real gangsta ass niggas know they got 'em.
All these virtue-signalling projects are just trying to camoflauge that they ain't seen a brown man since their great grandparents bought one.

Or they're just Jews hating on white people while using nonwhites as a proxy. Typical.

That lyric you quoted from RATM is an example. Zack De La Rocha is the son of a Rabbi who constantly attacked white people on "Down Rodeo", "Take The Power Back", and other songs.

Then there's the frizzy haired mulattoes and other talented tenths just looking to hate whitey and get affirmative action jobs. And last but not least you have the attention whoring troons.

Eh, I can't get that fed up about getting rid of "master/slave" anymore. If it makes people happy, call it "parent/child" or "active/passive" or whatever. It's fine. I can meet the wokerati halfway on this.

There seem to be a lot of people who think that a project dropping the word "slave" from its documentation is worth getting mad on the internet about, I guess I've got too many more important things to be stressed about nowadays.

Just don't write a wank-filled post about how doing a s/slave/dependents/g on the code base of a FOSS project few normies will ever hear of is having this monumental impact on society.

The problem isn't one word, the problem is that they want to change everything and this is their in-road to do it.

There is a lot of things wrong with it:

- Changing words used in a context that lacks any sort of offensive nature (e.g. master/slave hard drives. sorry when did hard drives have a race?) intrinsically admits that, in fact, the words were deliberately chosen to offend. It's a forced admission of 'guilt'. They are demanding you lick their boot.
- Orbiters who generally have little other to 'offer' to the project will use these 'issues' to legitimize their presence and contribution to the project, when in fact they have no other contribution to offer. The more wins these people get, the more they attract others with just as little to offer.
- Ceding once to this crowd signs you up for ever increasingly ridiculous demands. Much like gay marriage!
