Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

Eternal reminder that they didn't matter when he was flogging his book:

I'd be willing to bet he was emotionally blackmailed into saying it by some SJWs who demand that you either be actively supporting them or you're a fascist. His audience is fairly left, so a veiled threat of the sort they love to send could have a real impact on his audience if they decided to follow through.

Not to say he isn't a true believer - he likely is. But it's also likely that he was told if he didn't say the magic words then people would think he didn't believe them.

I doubt it, this is the dude that decided that Trump was so scary he put up the "I'm with her" comic after previously complaining about her in 2012 and about political posting in general. He's always been a generic liberal intellectual with a platform; he's just slow as hell to do anything. If he were really as invested in politics as more than tribal totems then we would've seen something from him about how wrong he was to back Obama of all people in the hopes of government transparency. No, he's just like any other academic liberal, just slow. I think it's because he has pretty much everything comic-wise ready far in advance so he can work more on his books and merch.

However, there is good news for things that actually matter:

This is the third year that we’re sharing data about the make-up of our workforce and how we’re making Mozilla a more inclusive workplace. We’re committed to sharing how we’re doing in our work to increase diversity at Mozilla and to ensure it’s an inclusive environment where everyone feels like they can do their best work. Research shows that diverse teams are more innovative, productive and outperform homogeneous ones. To help us achieve our mission to “ensure the internet is a global public resource, open and accessible to all”, we need a diversity of people involved. Also, caring about diversity and inclusion is just the right thing to do. We’ve made progress that we’re proud of, and there are areas we are focused on improving and making more progress in. We see that increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in the US is our biggest opportunity.

As long as it's consenting private individuals giving him the money, then it absolutely is.
I got the impression that libertarians are all about being strong and self sufficient but maybe that's more of a meme than an actual part of the philosophy.

There's been some interesting wokeness-related drama at Coinbase recently, but rather than make another post in this thread not related to OSS (it was bothering me if nobody else), I started a new thread about general wokeness in tech. Please like and subscribe.
That's basically what this thread already is. And it's not like we're overflowing with content anyway. Half the posts here are normies sperging about web browsers.
