Yes come on Blizz make D.Va a troon. Piss off those Korean feminists that shilled for her.
I feel like the troons who keep cosplaying characters in skin-tight suits might have helped Blizzard in their ideas to troonify anything they come across. Doesn't help that she's a gamer and most if nor all troons are gamers.

Imagine if Mei or Widowmaker were the ones being troonified instead of D.Va.

I'm almost eager to see how Blizzard tries to play it off. "Oh, it's because Gamers are homophobic/racist/whatever, that's why our game is rated so low, not because we promised something and failed to deliver!"

Or they'll blame GabeN and Valve dick-suckers for review bombing the game.

Unfortunately, there's probably enough dickgirl porn out there of them that nothing would actually change much in the long run.

I'm just expecing an "period of off-topic reviews" label on the Steam page and all the negatives being hidden at this point. But then again, I don't think I've ever seen a game that had such a negative reaction on release on Steam, only later on. I'd imagine somebody at Valve is sitting there trying to decide how much they can label as "review bombing", especially for a F2P title that's getting a large number of legitimate reviews on the quality.

And it's even moreso, since OW at the time of it's original release, was said to be the game that had the best change on challenging Team Fortress 2, in the class-based FPS genre. Although given that Valve does the bare minimum for TF2, and OW2 is a shell of itself compared to OW's original release, maybe Valve will think otherwise.

Something terrible is gonna happen...
Edit: Reading the reviews is fun. Arguably more fun than playing the game.

According to this Anon, it's possible they're retconning her to be a troon.

No way is this indicative of a plot to troon D.Va. If you actually think like someone who's in on the woke orthodoxy, you'd know that such a manner of allusion to a previous identity (if the sentence is even that) amounts to "deadnaming", a great blasphemy that Blizzard would not dare invoke.

In all honesty, Overwatch's first foray into a troon hero would mostly likely be taking the easiest path with a "non-binary" robot character, old or new, in similar fashion to FL4K from Borderlands 3. Recognize that even the beep-boop box Bastion still remains a "he" as originally introduced. Stealth changing him to "they" would give Overwatch at least a little credit and the least amount of blowback possible. If they want to make a bigger move than a lazy "non-binary" robot, though, then the next most likely route would be introducing a new "non-binary" character with an androgynous appearance and voice, possibly completely concealed and enigmatic like the Apex character Bloodhound within the game's initial roster.

I also thought so, but remember it's modern Blizzard so there's a good chance they'd stumble over themselves. Though I'd wager on the Russian bulldyke bein trans and thus "redeeming" her

I did consider that Blizzard could make an offensive miscalculation in their strike for wokeness like the tranny NPC from Mass Effect Andromeda. But I also highly doubt that Blizzard would target D.Va for trooning because of the damage it would inflict on the image of one of the game's most popular, marketable characters, the Korean superstar alongside League's Ahri. While it was a daring move at the time for postergirl Tracer to be made a lesbian, it doesn't really change people's perception of her as the peppy girl, and appeal to the target male demographic remains pretty well intact because the notion of girls kissing girls is hot. A tranny D.Va, on the other hand, completely changes the character and would turn away a lot her fans to a much, much greater degree than lesbian Tracer, not to mention all of the online fighting it would cause.

Now Zarya is a pretty good choice for trooning an existing, non-robot character. She's a tertiary character whose popularity is mainly with the wokies anyway while technically not even being a lesbian (yet). While Moira would be the most obvious choice just from appearance, I think trooning her would come off as offensive because of how gauntly mannish she already looks, thus making Blizzard liable to accusations of making a (accurate) trans caricature.

Exactly. D.Va would be a bizarre choice that undermines her whole gamer grrrl motif and get tons of people furious (for a variety of reasons).

Zarya and Moira would be the most obvious choices, but as you mentioned, they'd also get a lot of backlash for being the most butch female characters. Same with Lifeweaver being a twink if they outed him as a tranny.

Funnily enough, I remember seeing some insistence that Bastion is genderless, but Torbjorn explicitly uses he/him in the Ironclad PvE mission.

He's a robot. Robots don't have gender.

I'm surprised Blizzard didn't retcon Zarya's origin, what with the Russo-Ukrainian war going on. Hell, they renamed the cowboy from McCree to Cassidy because of whatever the voice actor did behind the scenes or something.

If they retconned D.Va into being a troon, coomers across the world would form a small but sizable army and tear down Blizzard HQ piece by piece, set the ruins on fire, and then hang the people responsible at the gallows, all the way up the chain of command.

It would genuinely be the dumbest decision they could make, making the designated girl gamer character into a tranny, basically saying that the only women who are good at games were the ones who were born male.

I'm pretty sure the redacted portion is just some teaser for some dumb story expansion since her character was basically already complete with her introduction in OW1 and didn't need much development. Or they'd remove the explicit reference to her being a Starcraft champ.

The worst they could do is make her a lesbian with another female character that's actually present in the game (unlike Tracer and Emily or Pharah just being a lesbian in general), which would be why they'd conceal the line. It wouldn't garner as much anger since as you can see with both Tracer and Pharah, the coomers don't care one bit about "canon" or Blizzard's dumb pandering.

You know what I mean.

Wasn't Echo the announcer voice?
Almost every named omnic has pronouns. My point is that all of a sudden we have Torb referring to Bastion as a he when people have squawked about him/it being non-binary in the past. And Bastion is arguably the most "robot" of the robot characters, so it's funny.

No, that's Athena.

According to this Twitter User, the majority of Steam's Review Bombing comes from China:

To the people replying to me in the thread: I honestly have no dogs in this race. I haven't played a Blizzard game since Frozen Throne. I'm only posting here for the informative and discussion's sake.
