Stadium is pretty fun, it fixes the annoying counterpicking issue I have with the main mode and it gives each character numerous new playstyles and lots of items to experiment with. I've reached top ranks in two of the roles so far just testing every possible build. The biggest problem I have with it is people do not care about the itemization at all. Some examples:
  • Our D.va goes against Zarya and instead of buying anti-beam items, she cries and says there's nothing she can do.
  • Junker Queen goes against Kiriko/Zarya and REFUSES to buy the item that gives her overhealth on each cleansed wound
  • DPS faggots cry that they keep getting one shot and are constantly dying while buying exclusively the damage items, absolutely zero survival ones
  • Enemy D.va has the item that generates ultimate charge from blocked damage, then gets constant ults because no one reads the enemy loadouts
  • There's 100th enemy team with Ana, does anyone at all buy the item that halves status effect durations and gives overhealth on sleep? Nope
  • Enemy has Brigette and Rein, guess how many teammates bought the anti-barrier damage item? Zero
And so on. So many people just do not bother at all and play it like it's the main mode. The matches are decided by who has more people who actually think about itemization instead of brainlessly following some random build with no context.

We Moira mains are eatin' good. As long as we have coverage, nothing else matters- but I've noticed I work best when using my tank as a veritable meat shield. Absolute brainless play.

Speaking of, Moira's missed out on both Totally Normalwatch and Junkenstein for the anniversary due to a glitch making her nearly indestructible.

Torbjörn and Sombra are the two ways to break stadium. iirc torb has 3 turrets now.
Doesn't sound too bad unless they can stick to ceilings (as no one looks up). But it all depends on how the turrets scale with items. And I can already predict that most Torbjorns will be going all out on turret items while getting one shot and crying that they can't do anything.

Randomly decided to give this a chance with a friend because I was mildly nostalgic for OW1. Honestly we're having a decent time and I quite like some of the new characters, especially Juno.
Although I wish I could play 6v6 with role queue. I very often end up in situations where I'm one of the only people willing to tank or heal as everyone just instalocks DPS. Meanwhile the enemy team always goes for a decent comp and we get stomped. In an ideal world we wouldn't need it but...

So I tried Torbjorn in Stadium for a bit and there's quite a few ways you can build him. It's pretty fun trying all the possibilities. Builds I've tried so far:
  • Hammer + Overload spec
    • While not meta, it's still pretty fun. You are very tanky, pretty fast and your hammer explodes both healing and damaging anyone in 3m radius. If enemy has melee tanks they won't be able to do much as you will outheal any damage they do to your teammates while destroying their hp at the same time.
  • Armorer
    • You become a hybrid of all three roles. Pick powers for armor packs, overload cooldown reduction, and overload granting overhealth to nearby teammates. Then you just spam Overload while shooting enemies to reduce its cooldown. Helps noticeably to keep the team alive when you play against high dmg nukers. Although your weapon power is low, Torbjorn still has pretty good damage and is able to kill easily.
  • Turret (single)
    • Lots of ability strength and couple turret powers will make it very tanky and hard hitting almost making it like a 6th team member. Thanks to the power that gives newly created turrets overhealth and the throw range item, you can just throw it at the enemy and they will be forced to dump a mag into it or run. Synergizes well with healing reduction on ability damage.
  • Turrets (multiple)
    • Similar to above, but they're pretty squishy and spammable. They do not have the laser sight meaning you can just throw 3 of them in random corners and no one will know what's hitting them. During teamfights people often ignore the lvl 2 turret with its laser, now imagine 3x lvl 1 turrets all in different locations with no indication as to where they are. Very cancerous, works especially well destroying flying heroes like Mercy. Go for both slowdown and healing reduction on ability damage for extra cancer.
  • Tanky M1
    • Similar to the first one, but with a primary weapon instead of a hammer. You spec into Overload and weapon damage. Then you just spam M1 and E. You're nearly unkillable, self-sustaining, almost one shotting enemies.
He's very versatile and you can adjust the builds depending on other heroes in the match.

And gadgets are fucking useless. Why should I buy an item with 45 second cooldown for some minor active effect when I can buy a proper item that has an uptime of 100% with way better stats? They're seriously underpowered. But other than that the patch is pretty good and offers lots of improvements. The most noticeable being that you get powers every round for the first 3, you get more money and the overall pacing is faster. There's no more "eco" rounds like in CS2 where you don't really get anything new and hope to save for your big item to finish the build. The mode improved a lot since past season.

Is ximming still a big thing like it used to be? I've faced multiple people who seemed to have aim assist/aimbot but their accounts were rather old and not just smurfs. You could tell that the aim wasn't authentic as it wasn't at a human reaction speed. On killcam enemy Ash would shoot and kill someone, then instantly one shoot kill another person and another one. She didn't even double tap to be sure of the kills, it was very calculated and automatic without any hesitation.

Also I was wrong about active stadium items being shit. They do provide lots of utility on top of the stats, but it really depends on what you need in your match. Surprised more people aren't using them. But I guess most are just mindlessly buying random shit from example builds.

PS4 seems suceptible to these things, but most reports I've had to make recently were over petty insults and shit. On PC I haven't seen these issues, though. It's minor.

People keep using stadium.io and it's fucking stupid. Make your own damn builds!

Overwatch 2 offers aim assist on PC if you use a controller, so it can be ximmed, too. I remember years ago a friend used to constantly complain about it all the time. They've supposedly started banning for it so those suspicious players might have been just some script kiddies with paid cheats.

I'm pretty damn sure that while you can use KBM on console now (it's extremely recent), aim assist isnt available on pc. But I'd love to be proven wrong- I don't like KBM.

If you're looking for some OP hilarity / a night of fun...

Queue Comp Hazard tank. Build spike guard AP...honestly past your build power of 'fires at everyone for guarding' you can take a variety of powers.

You will literally shit in the mouth of everyone that isn't playing Hazard.

In lower ranks sure. No one buys anti-heal, no one picks CC heroes, everyone groups closely together and lets him out-lifesteal any damage taken.

I personally go out of my way to make the match miserable for hazard pickers and suceed 99% of the time. I respect Mercy spammers more than Hazard spammers.
