It isn't fair to call Vicky II a communist game when becoming communist/having a planned economy turns the game into micromanagement hell. Enjoy having lots of unemployed pops because you were too busy fighting a war to hit "expand factory" on every single one of your factories.
Yeah, I don't believe that will happen either. You'd have people unironically complaining that Africa is starting in a disadvantageous position. This wouldn't even be bad by itself and really, half-expected by the current crop of twitter wokes but you just know paradox would bend over backwards to appease them.
Probably by doing what Hearts of Iron 4 did where every nation can conquer the world. Now you too can play some random African state and become Wakanda and conquer whitey in his homeland. Expect boring and dumbed down systems.

didn't know that, would explain why the game's economics are so nonsensical lol.

I just assumed this was the Fukuyamaist/Whig historian, neo-liberal view of societal progression that most Westerners inherently believe in. It's a shame that the only way to really play Victoria II (unless you're a role player) is to follow a path of liberalism.

although I disagree with "it can't get much worse," because it will. So much has socially changed in the past decade and political correctness has become so much stricter that I don't believe a game about the incredibly politically incorrect Victorian Era can be made by them.

edit: I've probably shilled this before and I know I'm probably over optimistic, but, the mod Meiou and Taxes for eu4 has a really promising political system which seeks to recreate contemporary conditions to reward different forms of political organization/playstyle. I highly recommend giving this link a read (sorry about reddit)

I wonder what mechanics woke VickyIII would have. Some decision called "Embrace diversity" that instantly brings all non-western culture pops to 90% literacy but causes a huge reactionary revolt? Make African colonies convert pops into money like slavery in Civ IV to conform with the pop-history narrative of "Africa was looted to enrich Europe"? Culture acceptance slots based on how leftist your government is?

”Embrace LGBTQ rights.”
Pros:
• gives you a load of technology points or whatever
Cons:
• nothing, you evil bigot!

Sadly, they'll probably pull some shit like this in the near future.

Vicky 2 is set in a highly 'problematic' time, if they do ever touch it again I'm very afraid of the amount of woke.

Like Ck3 and its new sexuality system. Ck3 is alright though, really shallow compaired to ck2 but the eugenics stuff is fun. Had more fun breeding a dynasty of pure-blooded literal Aryans than all the other shit.

the sexuality in ck is nonsense. Why is it open/common knowledge that someone is a homosexual in medieval society? They should just treat sexuality through the secret system ck has. Cant wait for the tranny update.

Inb4 the cock chop is added to the game and makes you a strong independent woman that dont need no man.

CK3 was very shallow and easy (FAR too easy) yet it was much better than I was expecting a Paradox title to be. All DLC mechanics were there from the get go, and major content updates are so far intended to be free. It also worked from release as well.

Vicky... I have no idea why people were ever interested in that shit. It turned a revolutionary century in thought and ideas into some pop management sim.

I'd assume it's based on rumors and shit, just like IRL with homosexual rulers. Edward II of England was widely suspected to have been gay even at the time and same with King James, Frederick the Great, etc. (even though they're post-medieval rulers). People in those days knew when there was funky shit going on between a ruler and a subject. Same in the Muslim world too, people knew if the ruler liked bacha bazi/similar shit a little too much and was ignoring his wives and the harem ladies.

Elegabalus supposedly said he'd appoint as co-emperor anyone who could give him a stinkditch so this means penis inversion is now historically accurate so eventually there will be DLC where you can get one.

Or will that be in Imperator Rome, who knows.

I think the problem is that they're approaching it with contemporary/academic views of sexuality where we view homosexuality as an orientation, in Medieval times it would've been viewed as deviancy. The thing is there's mechanics in the game for if someone is a suspected deviant/witch (and they earn the deviant/witch traits), but they choose to openly label character's sexuality instead.

This also dumbs down the intrigue/diplomacy of the game, and feels more like a token gesture to LGBT representation than something with actual thought and consideration for the gameplay/history.

Probably the same way you know someone is a Genius with 11 points of Martial or whatever. They just kinda made everything about a character into stats. They have the "sodomite" trait which acts like witch/deviant for homosexual characters in religions where its shunned/criminal.

There's not a single damn suspected thing about his faggotry given his comments about seeing men in uniform marching around. You can just hear his pants threaten to tear open when you read what he says.

Yeah, but you couldn't call him a sodomite to his face and IIRC he never went around publically declaring "Ja, ich lieben Sodomie!" so it's merely "suspected."

honestly, I wouldn't mind the skill points being either hidden or somewhat hidden as well. Sort've a "Terrible" to "Excellent" ranking that is still number based but hidden from the player.

he fucking ran Voltaire out of his country because his memoirs were leaked and in it Voltaire was going into extensive detail on how, despite their friendship, he was uncomfortable around Frederick because of how much time he knew he was sodomizing his fellow man lol. He would privately refer to him as the "King of Buggers"

I mean there were gay and asexual monarchs and rulers throughout history. Hadrian was one. Fredrick was another. William de Normandie was yet a third.

Very interesting to see how chronicles try to beat around the bush. Usually they'll read "he had a cold and distant marriage and his only companion was a male courtier." If you ever read "x monarch liked sodomy" it's usually propaganda. (Unless the ruler in question happens to be an athenian. If they are, then the chances of them being into buggary and sodomy is fairly high)

I'll bring up Alexander the Great as an example of a monarch who was asexual. He did have a male companion, but the sources don't describe it like they'd describe a male "companion" of the monarch and the sources mostly fixate on how he never seemed to be all that interested in sex

A better example would be Basil II "the Bulgar Slayer" Makedon. Guy was so utterly and completely obsessed with the stability of the byzantine state that he had no time for thots.
