Don't forget, an author only gets around 25% of a Publisher's revenue in a standard book deal. The Kindle prices are probably similar to the Publisher's revenue if we're being extremely generous, so Quasi's debt already far eclipses anything he's made so far.I'll be using the prices from his insufferably smug Amazon page and the numbers from this post (so, as of last December).
His total (pre-tax) income for each book:
So already, Quasi is worth more than any book he's sold.
- The Ark: $18,390.69
- Trident's Forge: $7,598.13
- Children of the Divide: $3704.70
- Gate Crashers: $11,630.30
- Starship Repo: $6,832.74
- In the Black: $3,000.69
Total sales are $51,157.25, or about 2.15 times what he owes Quasi.
Assuming nothing else changes, we'll have to wait 8 years and 1 month before Quasi's debt equals what he made as of this past December.
(If someone can double-check my work, that'd be great. Math isn't my strength.)
I wonder if he had to pay his advance back yet.
