Be warned, Vimm's have had to "thin out" their collection from time to time because of uppity lawyers
Mind you, this is excluding the problem (which I don't know still persists or not) that Vimm has a download data cap set so low that the downloads will happen at classic dial-up internet pace.

No seriously, it shouldn't take 3 hours for Twisted Metal Black to download on 5G, but it did.

Deluge is fucking shit at seeding. Used it for years and it would always seed the most random shit while leaving obscure torrents alone.

Unclear if this fits 'piracy' exactly, but Spotify has DMCA'd ReVanced with regards to their 'Unlock Premium' patch specifically.

⚖️ Spotify DMCA notice - Seeking legal help

ReVanced has received a DMCA takedown notice from Spotify regarding the Unlock Premiumpatch.

Spotify claims that

  • The patch is a derivative of their copyrighted works, and
  • It circumvents Spotify’s technological protection measures under DMCA 1201(a) (such as encryption and transfer key protocols).

Find the full DMCA notice here.

Their arguments

  • They say the patch enables access to copyrighted content by bypassing encryption, transfer key protocols, and premium feature restrictions (like skipping).
  • They argue this is circumvention, even though the patch does not enable downloads or give access to songs that are otherwise unavailable on free Spotify.
  • Our understanding

    • The patch does not copy Spotify’s code.
    • Songs on Spotify Free remain accessible without the patch; premium-only features mainly affect convenience (e.g., skipping).
    • The app requires attestation to prevent it from becoming unusable if modified.
    • The patch spoofs the platform, so the app works when patched, but it doesn’t expand access to content beyond what the free tier already allows.
    • However, legal precedent (e.g., 321 Studios v. MGM, MDY v. Blizzard) shows courts sometimes view bypassing software restrictions as circumvention, even when it’s about features and not direct access to copyrighted works.
  • Why this matters

If attestation bypass alone constitutes a DMCA 1201 violation, then not only premium but also the “make the app work when patched” functionality could be affected.

Honestly not sure what their avenue for defence are, I am not lawfag and my gut reaction is 'fuck Spotify' which I realise makes me biased. Might just be the end of a good thing, even if that thing has been pretty turbulent and patchy lately. They make note of specific wording like 'not copying their code' and call out that specifically making the app function again once patched being found to be violating the DMCA could functionally kill the patch entirely. God knows we need more word-based fuck-fuck games.

I honestly don't see a defense for them, really. You've giving premium features and convenience when you're supposed to pay for that privilege, you're probably gonna get taken out eventually and there's no way a court somehow finds in favor of you.

I'm not a Spotify user, but I am a user of Revanced for YouTube, so, hope this doesn't take the whole system down. Although since it's just patches there's no way it dies completely unless literal arrests happen of the creators. Has that ever happened for patching stuff like this?

They have already had specific patch repositories taken down apparently before. The 'premium features' in this case are 'ability to select what song to play' and 'ability to skip a song you did not choose to listen to' and 'remove ads'. Fuck Spotify though, rah rah etc

I was originally going to post about how it was taken down by Spotify since it fits the topic of discussion right now but it looks like Spotube, an alternative client for Spotify that boasts these various features:
43934873.webp
is back up now:
432949458.webp
Originally before, the Spotube project was put on halt because Spotify sent them a Cease & Desist letter for utilizing their API back in May:
43923498874.webp
(L, A)
453934584.webp
(L, A)
This meant that all possible downloads of its regular release had to be pulled. There was a nightly build of it avaliable but it eventually was no longer functional because of (IIRC) a change to Spotify's login system. Luckily, all of that shit over and a new release is out:

Was nosing around Reddit to see what the pirates were saying in regards to Borderlands 4, saw people commenting about it having 2 layers of DRM (Our boy Denuvo and also 'Symbiote' which people keep using ChatGPT to say what it is and GPT is mixing it up with, appearently, a linux rootkit or something?) but amidst the deflated cries of people bitching about double DRM I spotted people hailing our local neighbourhood cracking cryptid and eSex cult leader Empress. It sort of hit me I imagine anytime a game releases with Denuvo you get a weird vanguard of people who go "WHERE EMPRESS THO? WHEN EMPRESS CRACKING THIS?" I half expected someone would point out they're clearly a washed up loser trying to manipulate other losers into eSex and paying them money for literally nothing, but no, just people lamenting their disappearance and coping they might return to own chudboy Randy Bitchford.

What happened to that guy? He sounds like someone who'd be a perfect subject for a thread here. I don't know much about him other that he cracks Denuvo and is most likely a super angry tranny (judging by his deranged Telegram posts). Maybe he's just trolling, I dunno.

It's documented in the thread but to give you a brief rundown;

With all the attention Empress got for being "The only cracker of Denuvo games" Empress got super cocky, every single game had this bullshit self-aggrandising manifesto attached if you remember, like the Hogwarts Legacy one was all about "Fuck dem trans" and shit, well, during this time their Telegram was popular and they spent a lot of it having people ERP in private messages building themselves a haram of men who would do this with the intention of getting on Empress's good side. With the cracking of their last game (I believe it was DR2, i could be wrong) they lorded their victory, made a huge song and dance at how amazing a cracker they were and how shit Denuvo was (blah blah), if I remember as well around this time they were hardcore calling out Skidrow and other cracking scenes, essentially trying to start fights. They would then put up a post in their telegram with, if I remember rightly, an 'advert' to all members that if they essentially became an ERP slave to Empress for a time (I believe a month? At his beck and call) he would let them request a game to be cracked and then crack said game. I might be wrong but I also think this involved paying Empress during the time. With that there's been literally nothing from Empress in terms of cracking, they're still going strong with this cult of personality and still, as far as I am aware (Not that I've looked, I sort of assume it never changed) trying to milk their little sex cult for ERP in texts and money, they've gone on to say they're building an MMO(RPG/Sim space) game thing which, if people buy in and support, he'll play weekly and provide seminars/lessons on how to crack Denuvo. It all reads like one of the most fucked up and weird 'Alpha Male Camp' adverts I've ever read. My personal theory (as put forward above) is that Empress could crack Denuvo up until Dead Rising 2, Denuvo likely did something to their DRM going forward that Empress could not get around so instead of admitting it and trying to work with other groups to beat it, they went full fucking schitzoid and has continued to lie ever since proclaiming they can still crack (despite not cracking a single game since) and that anyone who wants that knowledge/insight or them to crack anything should become an eSex slave and pay up retarded amounts of money.

To ultimately Tl;Dr it - Empress let the ego of being ""The only Denuvo Cracker"" really get to their head and hard-turned their following into an eSex cult of personality which they scam money from retards.

Did you hear about that Denuvo crack leak a few years ago? Supposedly some cracker posted vital information about his work somewhere (or uploaded a version that wasn't fully encrypted, I don't know the correct terminology) and that let the owners of Denuvo make the next version more crackproof. I wonder if it affected Empress' work.

Let's not fool ourselves, there's no way Empress is a woman. I've never heard of a single female programmer of note in my entire life.

I don't think the fact they're a programmer is what makes me go "they're definitely a man", it's the egocentricity and immediate degeneration into creating some weird ERP cult of personality which made me go "Man." If I remember right Empress went by a different name and was "Just some guy" who then went on this weird angle for attention I think or to attempt to obfuscate their identity, so to my piss poor memory it's some slavic fat man who wants western men to ERP with him, while he pretends to be a woman and he steals their money.

I just realised, Slavs are learning from the fuckin' Nigerian love scammers.

e need a torrent client with a chat option so we can bully them.
That unlocked a primordial memory from my childhood. I know I used that client at some point, it was so long ago that the chat part may just be a false memory, but part of me could of swore I did use a p2p with chat before. That very well could of been it.

Ares had a chat option. You could even see the library of shared files of other users. I remember going there and mostly trolling people who left personal documents in the same Mydocuments folder that Ares would scan automatically and also flaming their shit music tastes.

Empress could crack Denuvo up until Dead Rising 2,
With the cracking of their last game (I believe it was DR2, i could be wrong)

Sorry, my fucked up Brit teeth interrupted normal thinking patterns. It wasn't Dead Rising 2, It was Dead Island 2 if memory serves, someone could check their website where they listed and linked their games. I used to have it but got rid of it after a year and some change of complete inactivity.

Typing "Empress, Denuvo" into google did bring me to this post; https://en.gamegpu.com/game/empress-will-return-to-hack-denuvo-in-2025 from back in April;

1757687015479.webp

For those unwilling to click the link, this is supposedly in reference to potentially cracking GTA VI, but there's nothing right now to indicate if it will have Denuvo and given his complete inactivity and R*'s literal hook nosed mentality I wouldn't be surprised if it does and Empress will probably suddenly go "Ugh I can't be fucked, fuck this game" or something and avoid cracking it.

If he does go on to crack it, it will leave a giant question mark over why Empress decided not to crack games (at least publicly) this entire time, I imagine it would be due to them feeling everyone should pay them to crack games (Which would, by my reckoning, completely invalidate the reason for becoming a pirater/cracker to begin with) or they've had noone take them up on ERP.

I DO WANT TO POINT OUT, BUT THIS IS TO MY MEMORY SO PLEASE DONT TAKE IT AS GRANTED
but memory does serve that Empress has made such claims in their "hiatus" (for want of a better term) when games come out with Denuvo, so it might just be a claim to make his retard fans feel he's worth following still.
