People actively post themselves on Instagram about what they've done, where they've been, what they've been eating. People on Snapchat send pictures of themselves, to all of their friends, daily, for "streaks", neverminding all the nudes. People on Discord use servers as their fucking therapist, venting and ranting about all the shit going on in their lives. People just have no sense of privacy anymore. Unless it's porn, no one wants to let people see what they're jacking off to. But even that's becoming less taboo, people talking about "gooning" and "my latest goon session", "man I'm gooning so hard". Disgusting.
Its the fucking phones. Your average normalfag is terminally addicted to instant gratification and have zero sense of privacy becuase of it. No impulse control means constant oversharing, and the prevalence of "spill the tea" muckraking means that as long as you get attention, no publicity is bad publicity. Its awful. Reading your post legit made me mad. Its difficult to put into words how infuriating it is to hear either the spineless cuckold "they already know durrr" or the performative faggot "what are you hiding?! only criminals want that much privacy!". The latter are particularly subhuman to me, especially if they are my countrymen. A lot of the most vocal advocates for this sort of thing are boomers who have lived under communism, who puff their chests and say "back in my day, you couldn't move a muscle, oh no, the police would take care of you right away!" as if it is something to be proud of. Cattle. Actual cattle. Born and raised in a cage so the barn and crook is all they know. Even worse are the young people with that flaccid "what do I care? how does this effect ME personally?" attitude. Fucking disgusting.

I like Rossman's "If you don't care about privacy, give me your phone, let me see your pictures", then suddenly they do care. Stupid.

I've seen it so much. It's why I'm so blackpilled on it.

That said. I care because I'm blackpilled. I'm not going to give up on it. I hope people can be convinced this does matter before it's too late.

I was just thinking about how much of this is caused by the constant move of society to be online. So many problems. And instead of being online less, they just push to implement this bullshit. And this stuff IS STILL NOT GOING TO FIX ANYTHING.

The kids growing up on theses platforms are going to still be mentally ill. People are still going to jack off too much, and indulge in the same addictive harmful behaviours. Literally all the problems will still exist. The only difference will be the last little pieces of freedom, and privacy we had will be crushed.

And instead of pushing to be less online as a society ( I don't even mean rejecting tech, just not putting everything on these platforms). Let's just listen to the billionaires and 3 letter agencies, and use their cattle tagging systems. What will this actually fix? Idk, why did they push for the same thing during COVID for different reasons? Idk, don't think about it.

Its so frustrating. It feels so hopeless trying to make people pay attention to it at all. The apathy during this has been the thing that has bothered me the most. Because when I do see people that should care talking about it. At most it's just resignation. None of them seem to want to put up any fight against it. It's just "this is happening now, oh well".

It's maddening.

Putting this under a spoiler because I feel it's getting off topic from Piracy.
Its the fucking phones.
I've come to hate smart phones. Got rid of Apple years ago because I came to hate their ecosystem and hated iOS 7 when that was released. Got Android because of that sense of freedom and can put whatever I wanted on my phone, but that was my early teens. And now the Google verifying fucking apps for Android has me worried. Now I don't need any of the shit a smart phone gives. I only have my phone for banking, phone calls, and browsing, but I already do that more on my laptop more than ever now. So I see no real reason for me to even own a proper smart phone. Next phone for me is going to be as simple as possible. I just need it to hold basic applications and be able to use Signal for calling and texting. Crazy how one's thought process changes when you get older and join KiwiFarms.

I've changed quite a few minds about the whole ID verification by doing a demonstration.

Me:
"You want to access this? Let me see your ID."
*Take picture of their ID*
"Ok, you're good to go."

Them:
"Ar-are you going to delete that?"

Me:
"I'm sorry, we're done here, here's your content."
I still have a bunch of them lying around in storage somewhere, gonna need to upload them to my NAS once I get that finalized.
Anyone got good recommendations for DVD rippers?

That made me think of this thing I shared over in the linux thread.

I think the way this guy is going about things is truly the way. It's about more than phones. But his phone gets talked about.

It's also illegal to exchange warez but I don't see that stopping anyone.
Speaking of which does anyone know if Dropbox and Google Drive etc give a fuck if you put up pirated movies and only share extremely selectively? I often want to pop stuff up to share with family/friends but worry they'll ban my account for it. I had a web hosting account get banned because they simply detected mp3 files like 2 decades ago so I'm careful.

Asking in the OSS thread about closed source demon companies because I'm a Chad.

RAR that shit and encrypt it. Problem solved. Now even if they're trying to scan for such content they can't find it.

I have used them for this and have yet to eat a ban. If you're really worried, toss that shit in a .zip with an innocuous name, nest that into another password-protected .zip, and send that over to your friend. The password protection encrypts the contents, incl. the metadata of the contents of the inner .zip

The problem is they're not tech savvy people. So basically if Google Drive of dropbox just autosearches for known pirated names they'd find stuff and ban the account immediately.

There's often movies and documentaries I want to share with family/friends but have been limited because of this. Poster above this seems to indicate they don't really care and I guess I could just use an alt account for it.

(thanks for the help)

What I don't get it is why I some people censor usernames in screenshots from X, Facebook etc. What's the point? Those sites are indexed by Google, so you can easily find those posts and accounts in most cases. The posts are public, this isn't a super secret private club on Tor.

We were all new pirates, once. And its probably much more confusing/intimidating today than it was 30+ years ago when I started dipping my toes.
Its 1000x easier today, you have entire subreddits (where zoomers live) telling you where to go. You also have repackers. Only thing confusing about piracy today is if you are a mobile fag and dealing with cracking APKs; I doubt most zoomers can install and patch revanced. They also don't have to look for no cd cracks.

I use Limewire.com to share pirated tv shows with family. You drag the file and drop it onto the webpage, wait for the file to upload to Limewire, click Share, get a link. You don’t even need a Limewire account.

Google Drive is the primary vehicle for sharing movies for the Cytube movie night. It's definitely a good idea to use an alt account. If you want it playable in the native player it will take some time for processing after upload. Sometimes this is a matter of minutes, sometimes much longer. In general it will take less time than the movie's runtime. At its most strict Google will check the file name, hash, and sometimes the first 4 minutes or so of a film. The latter one is generally pretty rare and in almost every case you shouldn't need to worry about it. The other two can be solved with a quick pass through Handbrake. There's some debate on H265/H264 video encoding but I've found them to be about the same. The player on Drive doesn't play nice with MKV so converting to MP4 is recommended.

I tried Lucky Patcher a few years ago and it barely worked. I was too lazy to look into it. What do people use these days to crack APKs?
