it was immediately following the Troon Twitter purge in late August and early September. Everyone who joined in September 2022 was lumped in with the drama YouTubers who joined after Jim and Augie joined(lots of Augie's friends and fans joined Poast as well). They didn't like that we posted about a certain fat retard a lot and were having fun in their general vicinity. This could have been easily fixed by muting and blocking people but instead they complained that new people were around them who were having fun on the internet and were not interested in their drawings of children.

Why does the federated timeline tab need to be completely scrapped in order to add discoverability features? That's retarded lmaoGleason is planning to make the federated timeline tab less visible on soapbox/rebased, he even talked about wanting to remove it entirely and replace it with "discoverability features" (trending hashtags, suggested users etc). Soyman even admits trends are bad because of manipulation but wants to implement it anway.
After the negative reception he removed some of his posts but thankfully some other instances have it archived so his sinister big social media-tier plans for the fediverse will not be forgotten.

The federated timeline is too offensive to normies and journoscum, both target demographics for Gleason and his plans. Soyman welcomed the journalists and said its a good thing they are on the fediverse. There's a good reason soapbox looks the way it does, its familiar and requires little to no additional learning because it looks the same as other platforms people are fleeing from. Pleroma-fe remains the white man's frontend.
What should I change it to?
I'd argue it's largely been Poast-centric so far because most kiwis' first interactions with the Fediverse were through Poast, but something like Fediverse General Discussion would probably fit with how the thread is now and where it's heading. People are already talking about Gleason and Mastodon journos and Chud Buds and more, it makes sense to me to change the thread title to match the widening scope.

Merging this thread with the one in Prospering Grounds would be an option but I don't know how well that'd work. This thread's in a weird place in that I'm not sure what other board I'd move it to. It doesn't feel quite on the caliber of a Community Watch thread yet.
As graf burns more bridges and exposes other nodes it becomes more and more of a community watch thread, it's pretty interesting to see one guy be such a fuckup that he pulls in all these other communities into this drama
