I'm looking for game recommendations for certain kinds of games.

"Podcast games" are basically games that are good, but don't require full attention. They don't have a lot of text or speech, and don't lean on story or atmosphere that would be ruined by having a podcast on in the background.

I have a mid range modern PC, so basically anything on PC or that can be emulated.

For what it's worth, there are a few games I'd recommend.
Almost any Gran Turismo works great due to being low speed/intensity racing. Endurance races especially are good to put on and zone out. I assume this is true of Forza as well.

Euro Truck Simulator 2, Jalopy, and Wreckfest are kind of the same. Low intensity driving that you can zone out to.

Bloons Tower Defense works well due to being a simple and fun.

EDF and MechWarrior 5 can also work well, especially when grinding.

Oldschool Runescape for sure. I've tried other MMOs like FF14 and WoW but they demand way too much attention when I just want to click on shit for exp while watching something on another monitor

I tried playing Vampire Survivors in this sort of way but it took much more concentration than I would've expected for such a simple game

Binding of Isaac (OG or Rebirth, either works)
Plants vs Zombies (the first one ONLY)
Doom & Doom 2: Hell on Earth
Terraria (unless you're playing on some shit like Master Mode For the Worthy or trying to do daytime Empress of Light)

Deep Rock Galactic - Drop-in multiplayer horde shooter with randomly generated destructible environments, once you learn the ropes the mission control dialogue and text is just flavor. You can crank it up to Hazard 4 and as long as you can aim and solve problems half decently it's still a breeze. I found it satisfying enough to continue playing it as a "podcast game" well after it got this comfortable.

Jupiter Hell. It's great. During the first couple of rounds it might not be a perfect podcast game because you're figuring things out.
It's a rogue-like and the spiritual successor to DoomRL so it's both incredibly fast paced AND turn based, it goes as fast or as slow as you want at all times.

Minecraft works well for a podcast game, imo. Especially when engaging in fairly boring mindless shit such as mining or cutting down trees.
Any grind-heavy RPG also makes for decent podcast games. Again, mainly during grinding.

I did this with Death Stranding but only when it came to deliveries and getting 5 stars via all the side deliveries. There is story to pay attention to, but for more then half of the game its was mostly podcast listening unless it came to cutscenes and listening to specific dialogue. I just became a postman at that point, plug my ears and deliver, which actually made me get immersed in the game more. Like Alter Ego also pointed out up top, Hogwarts Legacy for all the map filler.

If you're willing to embrace pure, unfiltered autism then 4x games like Hearts of Iron 4 and Crusader Kings are great for playing while listening to podcasts. Total War Warhammer is another good rec but the cost of entry is quite high.
