Popbase is something I am surprised has slipped under public reception for so long. I myself found out about it a few days a go and it is bizarre to say the least.
To summarize it, Popbase is an upcoming phone app set to launch early access on July 31st. It's premise revolves around giving a youtube creator an "interactive fan club" in which their fans can interact with a 3D model of said creator. They can also play mini games with little to no depth and buy furniture. Yeah that's one of this app's prime features.

This app also features premium currency. It's unknown how much they are going to price it at and what exactly it is for, but chances are they are going to attempt to milk users as much as possible. It also incorporates video watching in app so it's likely they will put as many ads per video as they can get away with.
The results of the 3d modelling are off putting to say the least.
You may be wondering who this guy is and why he deserves to have his likenessbe a terrifying abomination be in this game. Well, the standards for entry in Popbase aren't exactly high.
That's right, all you need is 10k subs and you can have the pleasure of being part of Popbase! This is the reason if you go through their creators you will see people with over 1 million subscribers next to people with 13k. Basically, they are desperate and will take whatever is thrown at them. You can't really blame them for being desperate considering how little public reaction is being given about their product. I think this image speaks for itself.
Unfortunately until the app is launched there isn't much to discuss, however in the future I think this attempt to exploit stupid kids and lonely people will be an interesting topic. It will be very interesting to see if it actually succeeds and which youtubers will sell their pride for a sweet chunk of monetization bucks.
On one final note, Popbase appears to be affiliated with Disney. Here is a video of sales pitch for Popbase which mentions that and showcases their money based motives, starts 1 hour 7 minutes in.
I highly recommend watching it, the way the dehumanize the app's target audience and focus on how they can get revenue out of them is fascinating.
