Only thing I did today besides line work exercises and cubes.

A few sketches I was able to do today. Late this evening I was making a chart of the colored pencils I owned (Prismacolor and Crayola) and observing and critiquing some old drawings. This weekend will be ripe with experimentation with my art supplies I got from Christmas.

Old ass MK fanart from an dead PC that I keep as a nostalgia.

They are in particular were drawn on WinXP Professional; on both Photoshop and Painttool Sai. Common in them are very small-sized canvas; due to the PC is not even high-end. For the Raiden fanwork, it is drawn on the alpha version of Painttool Sai; which I managed to download it for a better experience to draw more than tediously CTRL+ALT+Z on Photoshop CS2 just to perfect the linework. Managed to saviour those times to get old shit from the PC into a USB to preserve it before the workhorse died.

2006?! Aside from the low image quality, you could tell me these are brand new and I'd believe you.

Not really. Whilst the shading looks oddly new, some illustrators back then also uses this shading technique for their illustrations. Painttool SAI has been existed since 2006 when its alpha build was released; people still use Photoshop CS2 more than CS3 and such. Whilst PS2 on my XP PC can do pressure sensitivity fine with the Intuos3, I am retarded back then, so I did not use Pen Pressure. SAI's alpha version retains the same looks as its first release. I was a nobody there, so I never posted anywhere else but to illustrate out of fun will.
Shadings like these are relatively uncommon amongst illustrators; as well as the alpha release of SAI even has stability at the beginning. They are doable in both PS and SAI; but for most of the time, I drew on SAI relatively more than on Photoshop in 2006 to 2020; especially of the simple UI and the versatility of the app could offer that beats PS.
I might give you an agreement here, it may came from 2006, but it looks brand new due to 2006's illustrators' standards to use very bright and saturated color, suspiciously smooth linework and such; and that standards nearly never changes at all for a decade and 8 years, and was still used by fresh artists and veterans alike too. :pinetar:
