Here's character I was working on over the past few months. I haven't really drawn much because I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what I want to actually spend time on for a bigger project.

I probably won't do anything more with this guy as he doesn't fit with what I want to do in the future, so for now I'll just leave him here:

This was a simplistic, small 3D render project that I did some time ago. Sometimes, I'm inspired to do abstract environments like this; however, I don't often do 3D work as much as I draw nowadays.
I often have distinct motifs in my visualizations or imaginations, including sparse environments and balls, but I also wanted to explore/apply a specific color palette when I made this just to see how it worked. I thought that a complete, lush orange gradient serving as a sort of dusk sky proceeding towards deep green shades and black after the horizon might look nice. I actually started with a orange sky and base black geometry first and made the geometry materials shiny, then I added the clouds (an HDRi image processed in shader nodes) when I thought it looked too bare. In the midst of generating the renders, I also decided to manipulate the sampling to keep some noise, particularly to get a rougher sheen on the pillar.

This final render directly below is the one I currently use for my desktop wallpaper.

These are the prior renders made (original renders in 1080p):



^ Changed material parameters. From what I recall, it looks like I attached fresnel as a parameter to the Principled BSDF specular to tighten the glare.

^ Added clouds, increased sampling.

Of a final note: The original final render was in 1080p, but I made the higher resolution render just before posting; however, this does mean that the 4k version has reduced noisiness compared to the 1080p version. I may consider adding something to the shader to have noise be of a scalable property of the material(s) instead to get consistent renders with different pixels per view area.
