Quattrocento KF - Our body font.

The Kiwi Farms uses an open source font called Quattrocento. It's very special to me and it's rarely seen despite being free. I consider it a very high quality, high legibility font for body text. That we use a serif font for our posts is relatively rare, since the convention is sans serif for block text and serif fonts for titles. However, when we started customizing the site in 2013/2014, readers with dyslexia and issues with sight claimed that serif fonts were easier to read. It's stuck around, and nowadays if you see white Quattrocento on a grey background it's almost immediately recognizable as the Kiwi Farms.

The main issue with Quattrocento is its lack of extended alphabet support. It's a relatively obscure font made by a Chilean guy so he stuck to Latin. At the start of the war in Ukraine, I paid a Russian font designer to add support for Cyrillic. The font on the website is called QuattrocentoKF because it's different than the one on Google.

Now that the site is running it, I will be turning off support for Lora, the font we were using from Google to support Cyrillic. This means there are no more off-site requests to Google Font's API.

К наиболее значительным произведениям писателя относятся романы «великого пятикнижия». Многие известные произведения Достоевского многократно экранизировались и инсценировались в театре, ставились балетные и оперные постановки.

Here's how to get rid of that terrible special snowflake KF font and replace it with something more readable:

    font-family: "B612";
    font-size: 14px;
}

Just add this in Stylus or whatever.
