Quora - Yahoo answers Younger, more autistic cousin

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm late for the party, but I can't believe we haven't talked about this guy:

I found the guy a few years ago, and was kind of intrigued by this bio. I wanted to know if the guy was serious about all of this, or if he was just trolling. It seems he legitimately believes himself to be Sherlock; from that horrible TV series.
For what I could gather, he thinks of himself as some kind of genius who has explained consciousness and has the key to solve physics' greatest problems. He claims to have cracked the secret for true AI.

Here is his website:

And linkedin

I wasn't the only one following his trail: there is a Reddit post about him that I won't link here but that is easy to find. I even thought a thread might be appropriate, but my investigation got stuck. I couldn't find much else about him.

There are many others like him. It seems that Quora is full of narcissists pretending to be TV characters or elite atheletes.

Example:

The boomer in the first answer runs this site. I agree with his message, but he autistically posts the same 4 answers on career advice all the time; each time making sure to embellish his achievements. The Asian guy has "rides a lexus" in his bio.

How can you have a "community" with so many clowns? Quora is unironically worst than Reddit.

IIRC, before when users asked questions, your user would show up along with a short description/context (which included posting photos) for your question. It seems like Quora got rid of those features and now you can only see the question.

I remembered seeing tons of questions of people posting attachments of themselves and asking if they were fat or had a “good body” or whatever. Of course, you could never be brutally honest, and when I went back recently, all the images seemed to be gone. With only the answers mentioning them.

The convoluted answers most people give there are really appalling to read. Sometimes, they're not even needed and unrelated that it derails to the answer. I think most people don't want to hear their monologues. With YA! answers closed, I think you'd be better off asking questions in the Q&A section here
Sometimes I wonder if the users asking those questions genuinely want an answer or only ask to read the huge shitshow that will come from their question. But then I remember that the site is filled with SJWs/lolcows and realize that all these questions asked are serious.

As I'm sure has been stated many times throughout this thread, anything related to topics such as politics, race or ethnicity, religion, mental health, gender, etc becomes one self-righteous circle jerk. Just seeing users "explaining" the existence of God or other deities (or not), "self hate" within their/a certain ethnic group, questioning troons/gender or the "greatness" of another country.

Anyways, I came across this user, who hasn't been active in about three years, but they say that they "want to become a pornstar". I guess since they live in California they won't need to travel far...

And they posted a story of "loving it" when someone groped them. You can already guess the wonderful, insightful comments that were posted. Including some obligatory comment from an Indian self promoting what I can only assume is a porn site for Indians.

Pretty much most of the answers in the question are anonymous.

So it's also filled with thirsty losers too. In perfect world these people would mocked for being dehydrated in the wrong place and the wrong time. Then again Quora isn't exactly a great place.

There's at least 2 threads on Quora asking why real life is so boring.* Both have top answers with hot takes that reality isn't boring. One is by an "average guy" who lucked out and saw many amazing things, he's "counting the hits and forgetting the misses", or he's trying to pass off the mundane as exciting.

*(both top results on a Google search for reality being boring BTW)

Late reply, but its "amusing" to read the drawn out answers that people make whenever someone asks what "race" someone is considered.

Anyways, off topic, but I feel like there should be a thread for Disqus comments. Seriously. They have the same behaviour you find on YouTube and the constant circlejerk that you can find on Reddit, mixed with the smugness that you'll find in your typical Quora answer.
