R.I.P Conker

They invented this shit already

Why on earth wouldn't you just make a new character, instead of pissing off a (admittedly niche at this time) group of fans that love the original character? Since they own Conker, they can even have the same design and just not call it Conker, since other than its color scheme and that fact that it is a squirrel, it looks and acts nothing like Conker.

So, did Rare make anything that people actually liked after Microsoft bought them that didn't involve just porting their old stuff to new hardware?

I actually think it looks neat.
I'll admit the game itself does look a little cool, but the problem here is that they took a character that was famous for being a foul mouth cartoon like video game character, and turned him into the thing critics criticized him for back in the 90s.

Rare's last good game was Perfect Dark. Nothing captured the magic of their older games like they did in the late 90's. Viva Pinata I heard was good, though.

I love how the between-the-lines implications aren't even that subtle at the beginning. It's like: "Conker is a much beloved property with a dedicated following [who we at Microsoft believe will give us money for this tripe simply because it's Conker], so we worked with Rare [who basically had to do what we said since we own them and that makes them our corporate slaves] and we decided [by which we mean we at Microsoft decided] to use Young Conker [basically as a metaphorical Conk-ubine]."

whyyyyyy

Why would you change a character who is infamous in a mature game to fucking this and other bullshit
Because marketing to children or something. Funnily enough, they are making Conker more of what he originally was in terms of not being a character from a game that was literally not for kids. Even then, the thing they are using him for, one can only feel this thing will crash and burn, especially when considering how the Kinect was.

Hololens sounds cool and all but this isn't how you advertise it...
