5-20-2024 UPDATE ON BANKRUPCY: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/r-i-p-red-lobster.191341/post-18398195

So apparently a fuck-ton of Red lobster locations are closing down across the country. It was found out today on an online auction site

List of Closed Locations for Auction:

And there's even more closings not on this list. I found out just now that the Stony Brook NY location is closing down. This site has more locations not listed

For those that have never been there, the resteraunt is known for their signature dishes such as the Seaside Trio, which used to be seasonal but they eventually stuck it in the menu forever. Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Alfredo, and Fried Shrimp on one plate,.

Canada got hit by the same. I guess they went bankrupt?
They were always...kinda bleh? Last time I went you only got 1 (one) lonely cheese biscuit (literally a crime against humanity) and they always overcooked the lobster to the point of it being rubbery. Plus they only have them in cities with airports, lame.

I took my parents to one a few days ago as it’s their favorite restaurant. It was not good due to the franchise restaurant triple threat: expensive, shrinkflation, and lower quality ingredients. Pretty common these days. I’m guessing these restaurants were on knife’s edge before and the hit to their reputation and people not having as much disposable income to boomer it up at a restaurant like Red Lobster is pushing them and likely others over the edge. Too bad, I liked the cheddar biscuits and stuffed mushrooms way back in the day.

To my surprise, Connecticut has several Red Lobster restaurants. Who the fuck would open up a coast-to-coast chain seafood restaurant in New England? At least they picked the lamest state in the region to open up in.

For whatever goddamn reason, Mass, New Hampshire and Connecticut also have Long John Silver's. Again, why?!

My Red Lobster was on the list. It's a little ironic, as they were slammed for Mother's Day.

I'm not sure how I feel. I really liked the chicken cajun linguine, but their prices were getting completely out of control. When they made the cheddar biscuits available at Publix, I began to get a sinking feeling, as Boston Market went in a similar direction.

My mother and I went to a Longhorn recently and we both just ordered appetizers, which came out as essentially entrees given the amount of food. The bill was on par with the last time we went to McDonald's, even with the tip.

On the downside, I took her to a late Mother's Day at Sonny's BBQ and it was a bad experience. The audio was jacked like we were at a rock concert (except with twangy country) and they didn't chop the pork like she asked. It was her favorite place, but now she has no desire to return any time soon. Our last trip to Fazoli's was also pretty bad, as we had to wait almost half an hour after mobile ordering for the food, which were simple boneless chicken wings, AND I'm convinced they were either overcooked or stale, as several were hard as rocks.

The whole country is going to hell in a hand-basket.

I can understand red slobster in some shithole like Wisconsin that is a billion miles from the ocean , but who the fuck would eat at a red lobster in a city on the ocean like San Diego? There would have to be better seafood options in the dumpster behind a good restaurant there.
What really sucks is that in said inland places in Wasteland Ghoul country, Red Lobster is the only place to get a lobster (as in the whole lobster, not just the fucking tail) that isn't an expensive as hell steakhouse or something which will smell up your house all day. I sure hope the nearest locations to me stay open.
