Have you ever tried to sexualize a literal ideology? These communities are essentially creating Hetalia for political thought. There are a few communities that have become toxic and weird, but I will discuss Jreg's community because they are the worst offenders.

Jreg is an avant-garde content creator and self described "anti-centrist." He focuses on radical political ideologies and performs skits concerning them. His stuff can be hit or miss, but I consider myself a fan. The community that's metastasized on Reddit almost kills it for me though. He's pretty innovative and, as a consequence, has created a degenerate mob rabidly drawing femboy fanart, creating an-cap cosplays, and (much like /r/TNOMod) sexualizes and obsesses over Nazis and Commies.

What is the deal with the Jreg community? Their art and content posted is hard to describe, but most of it focuses on the Political compass and characters represented on it. All of these characters are played by Jreg, so it's usually homoerotic "art pieces" of him fellating himself. It's become very Tumblresque, but it's really a symptom of the overall degeneracy surrounding "Political Compass" communities.

Let's talk about the splinter-subreddit /r/Grej. It started as a fan subreddit for a Youtuber who made Jreg content, but used "off-compass ideologies." Off-compass ideologies are your hyper-niche ideologies like IngSoc but sexy, Egoism, Avaritionism, etc. These are ideologies that don't practically exist in the world. And they fell to the degenerate hoard only about a week after a Jreg shoutout.

r/PoliticalCompassMemes is also probably worth a mention. I had been subscribed to it back when it was actually just standard humorous edits of text/images representing political stereotypes pasted on top of the image of the political compass, back when the top posts fetched 200 upvotes - I have since witnessed it be co-opted by edgy zoomers and jreg-type fans that have plagued it with an incessant slew of xd random esoteric zoomer memes. They share more or less the same style of humor with what's described in this post, what with the like of fetishizing obscure/contradictory ideologies such as anarch-primitivism and edgelord 4chan trans nazis.

I think communities like these offer a surrogate personality to fans that they can use as shorthand rather than developing one for themselves and having it be expressed normally. It's the same reason people latch on to their astological sign or identify with hetalia. If you meet someone else that knows the categories and what they mean, then you just have to say "I'm America lol" or "I'm a scorpio" or "I'm post-left, call me qui/quim" and then your personality is preconstructed for you and the person you're interacting with; additionally, the person you're interacting with now has predetermined responses for you so they dont have to actually listen/engage beyond that point, and its harder to mess up. It's streamlined social interaction packaged up with Buzzfeed-quiz-style personality templates.

And thats not even getting into the gay fanfic "GUYS IM CREATING LGBT REPRESENTATIONNNN UWU", or the warm fuzzies im sure they get from showing off their totally woke Ancom political ideas in a socially (somewhat) acceptable way.

Jreg puts out edgy contrarian videos and seems to try and wrap up a lot of opposing viewpoints into one video, without actually taking a side. It's okay I guess, because he isn't preaching about "muh white supremacy" or "Doonoold Tramp" or some retarded schizoid shit. It's just some gay meta ironic trolling.

I think the real issue is that the guy basically has one joke. Internet man ironically makes many contradictory extremist political statements. The joke is funny once, except he's been going for years and for some reason some fans still aren't sick of it.
