Neets. Redditors. Fuse it and you've got r/antiwork's bastard cousin.

And to prove that it's really lolworthy stuff, I decided to just browse the stuff on the front page - it's one thing when lolcows pop up in some niche threads, but another when they have exposure to any person who opens the sub.

Here we go, in the order of finding:

For starters, if you don't want people sitting around for no reason without contributing to society, it means you're a "fucking asshole".
neet 1.png

What do you do when your life has taken a wrong turn? Ask family and friends for advice? Look for professional help? No, you post about it on Reddit.
neet 2.png

Not in education, employment or training? That's normie-level stuff, this absolute chad is in not getting a photo ID!
neet 4.png

Life is not about "the daily grind", it's about "living like a hermit"! (the kind of hermit who lives off his parents' cash)
neet 5.png

You know your parents are truly terrible when they don't want you to spend their money on drugs (which, depending on the jurisdiction, may nor may not be illegal).
neet 6.png

Some guy is trying to find ways to sleep more than 9 hours. The lazy bum jokes write themselves at this point...
neet 7.png

And finally, the moment when you get triggered by the fact that someone is actually doing something good about their life, and you channel this energy into Reddit, not getting a good job of your own.
neet 8.png

TL;DR: r/NEET is a place where entitled people come to find ways of amplifying their existence of doing nothing, and talk trash about the people who fund their "lifestyle".

Holy shit lmao. I've never heard someone call themselves a NEET in an unironic way before. This is just sad.
Maybe that speaks for me and all the internet shitholes I've browsed but people calling themselves hikkis or neets unironically and even bragging about it seems to me incredibly common, IIrc 8chan even had a few dedicated boards for precisely those kind of lifestyles.

Lol wagies mad at us Übermensch NEET philosopher kings
Imagine if thats what these people did, got all the time to do what ever. They could spend all their time researching, reading. They could become experts in what ever, home grown historians . They could work on some bizarre magnum opis of work of art like Henry Darger. They could be that weird guy tinkering in the garage building things and figure out a useful product.
Instead they don't get out of their cum caked bed, have a vast collection of pee in milk jugs and are experts Connoisseurs of MLP rule 34

Could be! Likewise I have pretty well only ever seen it used as a derogatory fashion or as a self-deprecating joke. My eyes have been opened today, for better or for worse. Fucking of course this is on Reddit.

That's basically what Christian monks were like in the Middle Ages. They were NEETs who had their basic needs fulfilled by their monastery and in exchange, they spent some of their time copying books. The rest of their time was largely spent on intellectual pursuits.

I guess most of the neet memes comes from 4chan nowadays, /r9k/ and shit like that, Wizardchan being the sad even more pathetic uncle to both /r9k/ and reddit. I think you are banned if you ever so slightly mention self improvement or even having friends there.

At the risk of being an anime fan, perhaps its best to offer clarity:

these two famous fictional characters in anime offered a glimpse as to why being a glorified hikikomori and NEET would never translate in real life places in America.

real NEETs and hikikomoris in Japan would mock, laugh and be disgusted by American NEETs like this, since their lifestyle is a heck of a lot different and complex than random Reddit users complaining about not wanting to accomplish anything in society.

Man, I need to watch Welcome to the NHK again. Brilliant show.

Like, I get life can be hard on a lot of people, especially now of all times where a bunch of kids aren't getting the socialization they need which will cause many of them to become NEETS as well. But spending all day on the computer looking down on those who work is no way to live.
