This was probably mentioned somewhere else, but the new episode of Smiling Friends referenced the "Bob Walks In" video

Am i the only one who loves how Chris draws? he is a really great artist

I don't like Chris' drawing in the sense that I believe it to be technically competent or aesthetically beautiful. I wouldn't want a Chris Chan original hanging in my living room.

However, it is the ideal accompaniment to his lunacy. The drawings that look like they were done by a child perfectly compliment his deranged storylines and his absurd life.

That's why I liked all of the CWC-style artwork that was featured in the original Gamer From Mars doc -- it fit perfectly against the stories of Chris' ridiculous antics.

This where Chris is talking with old guy is this a recent happening or?
Ohhh, this is just what we need right now.

Chris talking with the old guy. Beautiful. New Chris fans make me laugh sometimes, but in a good way.

Thanks for that. Yeah there are many, many variants of Chris talking to his father (pretty sure the video was in 2009 or 2010), I'm rather partial to the one with the SpongeBob music in the background and the bad pirate accent.

The "old guy" was Chris' father and he died in 2011, so no. THAT IS MY HOUSE from 2009.

(Also Bob Walks In is a completely different video, and not the one being referenced.)

Aha, thanks for clarifying.

I am actually not a new Chris fan, but link was posted in the community forum, and I wanted to know more. I bet you got a lot of tourists the last few hours in here from that community post.

I don't like his art, but I find Sonichu (at least pre-Tomgirl Sonichu) to be conceptually interesting, especially as someone interested in comics.
Sonichu combines two common genres of comic book (the autobiographical comic and the adventure story) that are not often paired together, and this juxtaposition is what makes Sonichu so bizarre. A comic where the author complains about the dean of their community college is nothing new, but a comic that portrays said dean as an evil witch leading an army of brainwashed policemen? That's different. This bizarreness is compounded by a complete lack of irony; there's no self-deprecation, no winks to the camera, all of the strange surreal events in Sonichu are played completely straight and presented to the reader in complete earnestness. It's unlike any other comic out there, mainstream or underground.

Can some farmer explain to a newfag why exactly Bob was so worried about the house being condemned and why he would think that? I'm familiar with the clip, and the famous "take that off the Goddamned internet RIGHT NOW" quote, but I've never understood what got Bob's panties in such a twist and why he thought the health department, of all government agencies, would condemn the Chandler abode.

Bob was aware of just how bad things were inside his house but also recognized that he was powerless to stop Barb's hoarding. It was unhealthy to live there, and he knew it (the bug bites that covered his body when he was admitted to the hospital were evidence of the deplorable conditions).

While it is exceedingly unlikely that the Health Department would check up on a random person's home, declare it unfit for residence, and kick out its occupants, he recognized that that's what should be done in his situation. He was also aware to some level of Chris' online presence and the influence of trolls on his life. Even if such a scenario was a long-shot, he believed there was a chance that it could happen (because trolls DID call the local health department to report 14BLC, which resulted in a visit). And he was an old man fearful of change, so he would rather live in the hoard than be taken to a situation that he'd recognize as safer and healthier.

Are lolcows mainstream now? When will we see boyfriend-free girls spend $100's for Sonichu themed labubus on ebay?

Was there a visit? Or did some trolls call Bob and scare him enough with threats, because I've never heard of the health department actually coming there and not doing anything.

Rocky Shoemaker claimed the health department had visited the Chandler home in a 2011 phone call with a troll. Rocky's statement doesn't specify when exactly the visit occurred, so it's unclear whether or not it occurred due to Bob's rant (the THAT IS MY HOUSE video was taken two years prior in 2009).
