Why don't you give your damn jaw a rest, Marvin.
Your persistent, almost convulsive white-knighting just doesn't cut it anymore.
Why do you describe my commentary as "white-knighting"?
I know most of it isn't natural Chris
I think people are lying to themselves if they think Chris would be anywhere the lolcow that he is today (reputation wise) if it wasn't for how he was marketed to the public.
The ED saga and Megan, the Liquid saga, Clyde Cash, all of the classic Chris content made Chris the meme that he is.
If it was only Chris himself, I think at best, he'd have a slow, meandering thread. But more likely? He might not even have a thread at all. If we didn't make Chris' name as famous as we did, no one would be watching the court records to hear that Chris got arrested. It's not like he showed up in any newspapers.
He's basically a less interesting floridaman.
Chris is certainly funny, don't get me wrong. I think he can be very funny if you put him in the right situations and let him react. But that requires two things:
- Someone to put him in those situations.
For example, look at Sonichu. Without conflict, what is it? Just a tedious slice-of-life comic about ponies or anime girls or whatever else Chris is watching nowadays. Boring. That's what you get when Chris is left to his own devices.
- Actually putting the content on the internet.
Chris does get into hilarious shenanigans IRL. We know about the obvious ones, like Snyder. But there's plenty of other ones we haven't heard about. And some of the ones we do know about, we only heard about because of dumb luck. Like if a troll hadn't observed Chris shoplifting (and posted the story online), we never would've heard about it.
Without trolls (or dipshits giving him money), Chris just slides off of the internet.
Trolling is necessary for Chris to be as funny as everyone expects him to be.
People don't like to hear this, because they want to believe Chris is a crazy, three ring circus of fun, 24/7. But he's really not. He's got his moments, but he's a phenomenon that needs to be curated if you want to experience the old school trolling days.
(Well, and I wouldn't suggest anyone do that nowadays. It's pretty to troll Chris nowadays. But yeah.)
