Oh you could tell. I remember someone sent me a video of him being asked questions about the show, and he had virtually no clue about the source material. Every chance he got to talk about Trek, being a thespian, or his own audio books he'd go off on long tangents. I mean lets be fair, he, and everyone else had no idea this fandom would bloom filled with deviants and autists... and a few normal people who liked the show, but I'd hate to accept a gig and suddenly find myself adored by people who make even the Trekkies look like sex magnets.

Lol yes! I just watched a video with some chick about the birth and death of Brony culture (pretty interesting tbh) and she used to be in the green room at cons with John deLancie.

(She was “horse famous” bc of a Youtube show she used to do: MLP friendship is witchcraft)

And apparently John deLancie not only detested the fandom, he also never had seen an episode of MLP.

Which didn’t stop him from making big bucks from Bronies through con appearances and a documentary he made.

As an old fan of JdL, that warmed my heart!

Oh I know that. Hasbro liked their money, but that's all. From what I saw there were a few episodes even directly insulting the bronies, and in their autism the insults went over their heads. John DeLancie hated doing brony cons, and when he did con events he refused to talk about the show. Hasbro shut down a few brony projects, and has been quick to step on any brony trying to sell their fan projects. Hasbro clearly has no love for this dying fanbase.


I'm not so sure there. I kinda think he'll sperg out and say they're wrong, because chris puts his ego and sensibilities over his shallow attempts at 'friendship.'

Hasbro very clearly intended the show and merchandise to be for little girls, when the fandom is taken over by adult male fetishists it becomes a PR nightmare and shit can go south real fast if the company decides to pander to those pervs. Having loonies like Chris Chan at best and pedophiles and zoophiles at worst as representatives of your brand who produces content meant for children is really bad for the company in the long run. It makes all the sense in the world they shut that shit down or ignore it and try to keep their marketing focused on little girls, bronys remaining an apocrypha the performersa and showrunners don't necessarily antagonize but still thread carefully.

i’ve noticed that a whole lot of people in twenties seem to be stuck in their childhood and they use memes to communicate and use stupid childish spellings of words like smol and chonk. They are addicted to anime and everything has to be shipped. The gayer the better. You find a whole lot of these types in discord chats. And since the majority of Chris’s fans are in this age group, I can see how a lot of their behavior has rubbed off on him.

yeah, i have zero problem with the creators, they were put on a though spot and doubt anyone from either the animation house or Hasbro could foresee the autism. Theres nothing wrong on making a cute show for girls, they seemed to all have done their jobs professionally and they handled the Brony problem pretty well, they were accepting enough to not be labeled as exclusionary or whatever but their interactions with that fandom seemed appropiate enough.

Chris biggest hurdle is himself, not even his autism is what fucked Chris the most, is very easy to look around and find so many people doing better coming from disadvantaged positions, even without the tism he would be a very exceptional and dysfunctional individual. His upbringing of course was fucked too but he has been an adult for longer than he was his parents responsibility and yet he never corrected anything or gave a crap while even lower funcioning autists have done so and improved their lives. He wasnt even born ugly, he only looks disgusting because he is a gross fat fuck who also dresses like a clown.

While I agree Chris himself is the reason he is such a failure, I still believe his shitty upbringing molded him to be the lazy piece of shit he is. This comes from his parents coddling him, and treating him as though he should be part of normal kids with no treatment for his mental issues. Chris was likely never disciplined and his parents also enabled Chris’ behavior like him being more special than others. It didn’t help Barb actively discouraged Chris from having form of independence.
