RatWiki has a lot of pages stuck in the Bush era/early Obama era, and that's probably one of them. The problem is they didn't come to those beliefs out of genuine critical thinking, but only because they wanted to score political points against their enemy.
Makes sense, I still wonder why they seem so afraid of the "christian shariah", like I'm sure thugs kill 100 times more people than boomers posting minion memes on the internet

Nibbas saying "reverse racism" was if racism can only be done against a specific race.
I think the best is the guys saying that minority on minority racism is "racial prejudice" because the narrative fail if they admit minorities can be bad.
Guess that if a black dude calls an asian chink it's ok
There's no such thing as "reverse racism." The opposite of being racist is just not being racist, not being racist against a different version of the Eternal Jew/Anglo/Wog/whatever.

Salient example: Anyone who's done science knew immediately that the proclamation that COVID-19 could not have originated in the Wuhan lab was nonsense. Auditing the research, the security protocols, and verifying that the strain in the wild was unrelated to anything that had ever been developed in the lab should have taken no less than a year. The idea that "forty scientists signed a letter" was some kind of proof was insulting, and the fact that social media started locking accounts based on it proved to anyone with a brain that they were just regime shills. But to RationalWiki types, they don't actually understand any of that. They don't actually understand "forty scientists signed a letter" isn't science.

The problem with all of that is that it all got so tied up in the politics. This is when Trump insisted on calling it the "Kung Flu" or "China Virus", and Asian people were getting attacked on the street. I can understand the emotional hesitancy to give credence to all of that.

The problem with Very Rational People™ is that they tend to think of themselves as completely logical and above any and all bias. This is, of course, not the case. So you get this pompous arrogance, which becomes insufferable especially when combined with the "this is the one and true and only possible scientific explanation!!!"

I do think science is great, but "science" is a process and not a "position": it's the best way we have to figure out what is true and what isn't, and it makes things like planes and computers possible, and has given us clues to the origins of the human species, the universe, and the nature of humans. It's the best we've got, but far from infallible. There's a lot of confusion where people take some scientific paper (part of the process of science) and take this as truth.

They bought into a completely fake narrative around black-on-everyone hate crimes that happen every day in America. The only discernable reasons for the uptick in black hate crimes are their enablement during the Fentanyl Riots of 2020, and the total abandonment of law enforcement against blacks. Neither of those are down to Trump.

How is this related to the coronavirus and "lab leak theory"?

Retards blamed wuflu for an allegedly increasing hatred of Asians, but actually it was just coincident with a national event that caused a dramatic increase in hate crimes by blacks against all racial groups.

The amount of anti-Asian crimes by blacks has always been high as well, so pretending it's a recent trend is only a matter of political convenience since they can deflect and deny the race of the perpetrators.

lolok. This is far dumber than most things on RationalWiki.

But this is a good example of what I meant why these kind of discussions are hard, so thanks for that I guess.

You know if you check their Hollywood conservatives list. I found it odd that they have Jennifer Lawrence listed. Due to the fact that back in 2020 she stated she used to be a Republican and voted for John McCain in 2008. But also said she is a Democrat now. Granted she also said she was "fiscal conservative"

But I guess you could argue her being no different than Arnold Schwarzenegger being socially liberal, fiscal conservative". Since I guess that's conservative by Hollywood standards. Also I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for the fact that Arnold was a Republican governor at one point, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't list him as a Republican.

But it does bring up the question of what is" moderate conservative" in Hollywood? Since arguable Sylvester Stallone, Clint Eastwood and even Adam Carolla are moderate by conservative standards yet I wouldn't put them in the same boat as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke and Lawrence.

Really types like Arnold and Lawrence seem to only be listed. So people like on rationalwiki can point to what they claim to be "real conservatives"

It just something that caught my attention

RationalWiki uses that list as an argument that there is nothing against conservatives in Hollywood or that they're not being blacklisted. Of course this falls apart when you realize that the people listed are already well-known and successful or got their start working in the industry at a time when they didn't care as much about political affiliations.

In reality and especially nowadays it's really the younger or lesser known actors and actresses that get screwed over and blacklisted if they are open with their political beliefs and just happen to think differently.

I agree I notice that too. Alot of the actors and Actresses they list came out conservative long after they became known names. Guys like Clint Eastwood and even Stallone got their Starts during a time where conservatives were still the majority in Hollywood.

Notice how they list Gina Carano on the same day she got fired?

like does david even check on his own site anymore. what is this shit
This is definitely a tranny.

Also that quote about killing Buddha is from Linji Yixuan, a 9th century Buddhist teacher. It is not from Siddhartha Gautama. I get unreasonably irritated when people butcher these quotes to try and sound smart. It's the peak of pseudointellectualism that characterizes wiki admins and wiki users in general.

People quote buddhist koans without having clue one about them all the time. It's usually an attempt at MENSA trolling by morons. It's not just this koan, either, these things were a lefty meme going back to the 90s and they didn't understand them then, either.

this site is such a perfect fossil of gen x jon stewart wannabes and 2008 /r/atheist fedora millennials i love it
Yea RW is not gen X liberals. Fewer and fewer people there have a recollection of politics prior to 2016 (which is honestly horrible for a site with so much holdover from pre-2016 politics)

RationalWiki in 2022 is a combo of about 20 or so teenage redditors, manipulative and psychopathic drama-whores, intelligent right-wing liberals who prefer Democrats, and braindead left-anarchists. Any left leaning person with an IQ above 80 was pushed out of there over a year ago, and led to various wiki forks like socdem-wiki.

United in nothing but "support-the-current-thing" and hatred of the GOP, the site is also constantly warring internally. They recently pushed out most of their old guard. (Oxy etc) Having few original people still active with the wiki, the site has almost no one willing to even do basic tech support for the site.
