I don't know if anyone's ever had to be around a Redditor irl, but I think their reaction to advice like that is a projection of their own personality.
See, when a normal person gives someone else advice or information, they do it in order to be helpful and usually out of empathy.
Meanwhile, when a Redditor gives someone advice or information, it is a confrontational act. If you do not either do what they say or produce a preferably expert-approved excuse as to why you aren't doing the objectively correct thing to be the most "productive" human being you can be, then it is a sign of unworthiness as a person and/or an active attack on them and their ego where the only possible response is to attempt to verbally, emotionally, or systematically bludgeon the target into submission.
So to a regular person what translates into "Get exercise if you can, it'll probably help you to feel better", in the mind of a redditor translates into "Why are you not taking the OBVIOUS route to solving your problem, you fucking loser/idiot?", because that's what they think when the roles are reversed.

If only we had some "source" to show the connection between dissatisfaction with ones own sex life and increased porn consumption that is common sense to most relatively normal people.
