Agreed, the urbanite cannot conceive that products can come from places other than Walmart. They can only picture a straight back and forth to the nearest big box store rather than patronize a local farm stand or mom & pop shop in a rural community.

Some hardcore urbanists are quite literally the dumbest people I've ever met. They'll willingly stay in neighborhoods that are getting overrun by nigger gangs because they don't wanna be seen as contributing to white flight, or they'll make their lives as inconvenient as possible by not ever buying a car because of dumb ideology reasons. Then they sit there and can't figure out why half their take home pay every month goes to uber.

So of course their feeble brain short-circuits when you tell them that some people don't make all of their decisions based on nothing but impulse and you need to go further away than 3 blocks for food which then requires "planning ahead," something a lot of urbanists can't understand or comprehend, because in their mind city life shouldn't require any hard thinking at all.

They have no real idea what life is like outside of the city they grew up in, arguably less understanding of rural areas than many rural people do of the city. They don't understand it and they hate it.

Though I do find that sentiment is almost Americans as a whole, unless you're one of the few that lives in a non urban area (and they don't seem to spend as much time rage tweeting as the city dwellers do.)

agree with people forming emotional attachments to mental illness being retarded, but stuff like depression isn't always a matter of simply fixing some brain damage or malfunction. loads of people are depressed because their lives are just plain fucked, in those situations no amount of ssri pills will help, to fix this kind of depression you need to fix your underlying life issues.

Don't even get me started. He constantly ignores the root causes of problems in cities and always blames it on cars, while misunderstanding why the Netherlands is a good place to live. If American infrastructure was replaced with Dutch infrastructure tomorrow, it would quickly be destroyed and made useless by all the usual suspects. Whereas if American people were replaced with Dutch people tomorrow, you'd get the type of dense, transit-oriented urban cities he and all the urbanites love so much in a heartbeat. Ditto for Japanese infrastructure and Japanese people, another place fetishized by the urbanites.

Completely completely agree. Hell, it even came up in the Shidbhbhbhb Gallagher thread this morning; one of her victims claims to have dysthymia, but she has so many actually reasons to feel shit that I think she's mistaking the persistence of that shitty feeling for the persistence of a mental illness.

Similarly, mistreated or misdiagnosed issues can complicate other ones. That's why it's double-fucked that in this specific situation, the depression was treated as something completely seperate from the "gender dysphoria" and it's insane to me that you can't say "Hey, maybe all these feelings you're having might be related to what you've been experiencing in your life and not just the work of a malicious gender-fairy."

There was a whole war that happened over in r/Egypt because the mods changed the subreddit's icon and banner for Pride. Egypt is a Muslim majority country and even Christians share the same beliefs towards LGBTQ+ and other social issues. Suffice to say it didn't go well at all. Just one day into the change and the whole subreddit got flipped upside down. The mods eventually reverted the subreddit banner and icon again in I think a day? Not sure but it didn't last that long.



This is the only version of the banner I can find the third pyramid had the Egyptian flag. I was very confused when I saw the trans flag you can see the colors again in the subreddit icon. Most users didn't recognize it judging by the comments and memes.

To give some context: Initially r/Egypt represented a very small and open minded community of Egyptians. Some where diaspora and others are just privileged, for a while this subreddit allowed many Egyptians to speak freely and openly about many topics from religion to politics to sexuality. The subreddit was essentially an echo chamber really. As the subreddit grew it attracted more Egyptians and naturally the opinions of the average Egyptian started reflecting upon the subreddit.
As previously stated, the participants of this subreddit are very privileged but will deny this privilege so luckily for you guys the posts are all in English! Both homophobic and pro-LGBTQ+ posts! Usually homophobic posts are in Arabic. Anyway enjoy.

First thing I see in the server, amazing.

Most of the discussion is obviously in English because the participants are either diaspora or privileged. Any Arab that can speak a second language is privileged. Any Arab that can speak English well enough to use reddit is privileged. Any Arab that can speak English well enough to be on discord that is clearly in English? Privileged.
