there's no need to rose tint the reddit of the past
Reddit was better in 2010 because I could make infinite unverified accounts to troll with and there were no minimum karma to post restrictions.

The "people" on r/atheism were genuinely retarded and they took all the bait.

I discovered reddit in 2010, and I promise you this is not at all true lol. Were they moderately less faggy? I guess. But the default subs of that era included the weed subreddit where redditors spent all day complaining about how obama was a traitor to the legalize movement because he smoked weed once, and r/atheism which is like the big bang for cringey redditors with 85 IQ who think they have 120 IQ, not to mention a foundational text for Rick and Morty. r/Politics wasn't a whole lot better, reddit was an early adopter of "whoever is the most retarded candidate that runs on a platform of infinity gibs and legalizing weed" and other insanity. not to mention it was an era where r/adviceanimals was a default sub. there's no need to rose tint the reddit of the past when it was already the budding seed of rerardation it would grow into. a lot less bots, I guess
I still miss the old fedora tipping Reddit and would love to replace the current astroturfed SJW abomination that the site has become these days with it. At least it had hobby subs that weren’t full of politics and considerably fewer insane trannies.

Ok maybe I'm over exaggerating a little, lol, but I think the difference is that there was still some diversity in interests and not everything had overlapped with politics/gay shit yet.
I don't want to romanticize it too much though since thankfully I've never spent long enough on reddit to be considered a redditor IMO.
Thinking about it though, and maybe it's just faggy internet culture in general, but the "chill/smart guy who gives everybody free shit" did always seem to appeal there.

Do you guys think the Redditor tendency to infantilize everyone younger than themselves is just the human urge to think everyone younger than themselves is an incapable kid and think everyone older than themselves is senile and decrepit and doesn't know how things work manifesting itself, or is it just a smug Redditor thing, or is it just human nature combined with Reddit?
Possibly, Redditors aren't exactly young themselves. Those social media analytics sites have the average Redditor in the 39-42 range.

I'd say it's a current era human thing made worse when viewed through the internet.
It's super easy to look at someone younger than yourself and go "Oh, you haven't gone through/experienced X life milestone yet? Haha, you're essentially a child until you do", especially when you're in your late 20's or older and you're talking about anybody under 25.
Same thing when discussing with older people, but instead it's more, "Oh you're older? Well you wouldn't understand what's it's like since you didn't have to experience it first hand like I did".

IMO in reality though, while a lot of this can be true about certain things, like it's hard not to see a 21 y/o whose never had a job or lived alone as an adult, if you're driving past an accident or a fire and the 23 year old 6'2 bearded fireman walks up to tell you "Hey, roads closed because of an accident", even if you can tell he's young, the last thing you're thinking is "Oh man, this kid doesn't know anything".

Same goes for the random jacked 45 y/o you're talking to at the gym, the last thing you're probably thinking is "this stupid frail old man doesn't know shit". You're more likely to think "I wouldn't want to fight this guy, I just saw him 10 rep 315 with no spotter..."

With the way you described it it just sounds like most current internet human interactions really. Everything taken 100% seriously at face value, and "everyone but me is retarded".

I think people only associate it with reddit because it's where the behavior is most often exhibited. In actuality, generalizing everything because they're younger/older than you is a terrible idea, since age alone doesn't dictate the experiences they went through. (edited this bit in) For example, the post above me, I wouldn't fuck with the guy who experienced a gym class and call him a "senile old man".

Someone correct me if Im wrong but didn't a few mods for r/atheism also took over a few religious subs like r/Catholic and r/ Christianity and would flood new posts on there to "refute" whatever was posted? I swear I remember there was a rule where they claimed they had "Experts" who would refute whatever was posted on any Christian related sub reddits.

r/fauxmoi celebrate the death of Chuck Norris because he was right wing and allegedly said "faggot" in his life.

From what I understand, r/Christianity isn't a sub for Christians, it's just a sub to talk about Christianity. Which is a bit strange - how would reddit respond to someone making a sub to just talk about islam, for instance? The sub for Christians to talk about Christianity is r/TrueChristian.

Thread about Singaporean pedophile advocate Amos Yee somehow manages to turn into spering about Donald Trump. Guess who detained and deported this guy who wants to rape kids? ICE. The organization they want abolished. He very possibly could still be here trying to fuck kids if we didn't have a touch on immigration president like Donald Trump.

Teacher on Reddit talks about how disruptive her black female students are

A reply of course blames Donald Trump

That has to be bait/bots. They never say the race of their students, even though 90% time its pretty obvious based on context clues. The only time they bring it up without it being bait is if racism is the core of the issue/disruption. Just my two cents anyway.

They’re also one of the subreddits that has turned itself into an echo chamber, and you can’t comment unless the jannies approve of it.

Recently, I have been stalking the Patty Locke thread (good read btw), and in one of the posts, one of the users mentioned a lil subreddit called "seed_irl" which the named lolcow has been posting on.

So I went to check the subreddit itself, and... oh, heavens.

For those who are unaware, seed_irl is a community subreddit for a fictional universe named "Human Domestication Guide" (yes, you read that right), and to TL;DR what's about: it's basically a collection of femtrans smut fanfiction where humans get captured and colonized by the "12 feet dommy mommy anthropormorphic alien plants" named the Affini, and they also get domesticated via drug injection and turned into pets called the Floret, where ALL of their needs are taken care off (a.k.a they don't have to hold a job). Also, this domestication proccess forces the user to receive a miraculous 1-week HRT treatment that reverses puberty, and apparently the more disabilities a pet has (like if they're autistic, or have sensory overload or whatever), the more appealing they are in the eyes of these aliens.

... it's a whole can of worms, I'm not bothering explaining everything, but you can CLEARLY tell what kind of people who would like such a thing.

I'd like to share some of the funny highlights:

(nothing TOO graphic, but beware of some Islamic Content)

If you're still confused on what the exact type of people we're dealing, then these two images should clear things up

Imagine being so insufferable that you're getting kinkshamed by the LGBT AND the Furry community combined!
Like everything tranny, it's a shitty clone of something else.
The Gay Niggers from Outer Space want their IP back dammit.
