I mean there's a third option, too. Maybe some people honor the direct requests of others but couldn't give a shit what companies do.
If you ask me to call you a pronoun, I'll do it. I don't care, I don't judge. If you're black, asian, hispanic, or indian, I don't care, I don't judge.
However I don't care what Take Two thinks of black, asian, hispanic, indian, trans, gay, queer, non-binary, asexual, people. I care about what games they're coming out with. Y'all handle your shit internally, I don't care. Don't tell me about how you plan to deal with it, just deal with it and let it be.
This is just the outward facing version of team meetings that don't accomplish anything except "team building." No one cares but the bosses, and it's entirely so they can say they're doing something. I'm sure some black/asian/hispanic/indian/gay/queer/trans/asexual/nonbinary person was like "hell yeah!" but that's the dude who hasn't learned that it's just corporate double-think. Stop virtue-signaling and tell us what you're making, no one cares what you're doing internally unless it's problematic. If it is, handle it internally.
At this point companies feel more like TV Cheerleaders. Designed to look nice, puts on a good show, but more shallow than the surface water on mars.
