I don't know if passing/not passing is the true issue here. For many decades (perhaps centuries) effeminate men and masculine women have been misgendered because they visually don't fit what's expected. The problem today, however, is that many troons think that this is an actionable offense, and they are more than willing to destroy the livelihoods/reputations of those who make this mistake. I have witnessed several times when this has occurred by accident (and on purpose, but rarely because most people are polite) and the person involved didn't make a huge stink about it, but now we have troons screaming at poor GameStop employees and little Eastern European girls because they didn't use the correct pronouns. This is unacceptable behavior.

As for those who think they are really the opposite sex, well they shouldn't expect everyone to go along with what's in their head. If they don't pass, they can't legalize their way into passing for long without protest.

Hmm, I'm not so sure. Dogs have a great sense of smell, which they use to identify people by first. For example, our old dog would get excited when my mom was nearly home from work, he picked up her scent from a block or so away. So your dog might have thought the glasses were ... I dunno.
