Rather than being sent to Heaven or Hell, the powers that may be are unable to decide where you should go. You wake up in the Garden of Eden who's new home has been made in Limbo. You have three options: either take the trials to earn your place in Heaven, live it up in Hell, or remain lost in Limbo for eternity.
It's a lot to take in fresh off your death bed... but maybe you find can find your peace along with your new friends in the afterlife.
Repurpose (Archived) is a dating sim with themes of death and all that good shit that I found by random chance. Looking into it, the bio section already sold me on how this pronoun trash can was gonna go.
And I thought people hated the "Bury Your Gays" trope.
Featuring six (so far) quirky non-cishet characters, I'm sure you'll wanna buy at least one body pillow of these... likable characters.
...seriously, it's only a demo and you already have merch for it?
~ Some actual criticism of the game ~
They're selling the full version for 6.99 by the way.

Someone should play through this and post the results. I'd do it myself, but I don't want whatever spaghetti code makes up this game to turn my computer gay.

If no one has done it by the time I get home, I will sacrifice myself for the cause. I have a potato pc at home that would love to throttle to hell with whatever mess the code is in this game.
Edit:
Here I go!
Edit 2: The game is made with GameMaker Studio using the VNgen middleware from XGASOFT, and for some reason, they left some documentation in the zip file.

The characters shown in the thread so far are really not all that horrifying. I'm sure the text in it will be stupid but that's a given with an Alphabet Soup VN. Guess we shall wait to see when/if Doppelmonger returns from their expedition. May God have mercy on their soul.
Ok, here is what I think of the demo, so come and check out my impresions!
Actual background prop in the game
DISCLAIMER TL/DR: This demo was longer than what I was expecting, way longer than Validate. I could not finish it due that I fear for a blackout for rain in my area. Sorry if I let you down.
Music:
I start with the music because I think is the better aspect of the game. It is above the one in Validate; it has variety and it is overal more catchy. There is a problem with fade outs where the music cuts out when a transition is used.
Art:
Colorful and varied. It has more style than VD, but some characters suffer "tumblr faces" (see bellow). The backgrounds are digital drawings, and even if some lack some detail or give the feeling of unfinished, there is proof that this has more effort than what Dani is trying to put out.
Gameplay:
It is made on GameMaker Studio 2 as the window says. I do no have anything against using it, since good games can be made on any engine imho.
The only options in the game are these:
Fullscreen
Resolution
I can only toggle between 1280x720 and 1366x768. I do not own a bigger screen so I am unsure if other resolutions are available.
Audio - FX
Audio - Sound
Audio - Music
I found some of the most common commands hitting the keyboard while entering my name:
V - Hides textbox
L/backspace - Brings up the log
P - Pauses the game
The lack of a fast forward/skip button and the auto mode coupled with the lack of a save/quicksave button made a slog to replay for a 2nd time since what is shown of the story has a lot of branches and I am not sure if all of those set different flags.
There is an autosave function that only works on scene changes and when you quit the game, but there is only 3 slots available.
The only mouse button that does something is the left one. Not even using the scroll wheel shows up the log, so this game is perfect for an early apple mouse.
When you call up the pause menu, the only 2 options are "Resume" and "Exit".
One interesting thing is that the game registers your death as the same day and hour you start the game.
Characters in the demo (that I managed to find so far):
Left: Kalei, a trans bisexual angel that wants to save the souls of the humans.
Right: Ramón, a bisexual mammon handpicked by satan to lure souls to hell.
Left: Mitts, a strong and independent black disabled pansexual transwomyn, he died by bleeding out after chopping his right hand wile working on a machine, and because he was home alone nobody helped him.
Middle: Rosita, the crybaby latina lesbian, she worked as a waitress and died in a explosion at her job where she failed to notice a gas leak thanks to being exhausted as she was studying for a midterm exam the day prior.
Right: DJ Roadkill (you can change how you address her later), the pansexual nonbinary horny woman, she even has 69 on her t-shirt! She never takes off the mask, not even to fuck after her live presentations at the backstage (an actual nugget of information in the game). She died on a "peaceful" protest against racially inspired brutality when a cop threw her at a moving car.
Hordes, a rat king, he is briefly in the game where you can tell the troon to: .
The rats he has also have name and pronouns but I was not interested to remember them.
Faye, a pansexual agender woman from hell, she turned a church into a nightclub where she is the bartender to lure people into hell.
Walkthrough:
After you start the game, the game enters in debug mode and then it asks for your name:
And yes, that overlay stays for the rest of the demo.
After that, you can select your pronouns since it is [current_year]
And if you are cis or troon:
After that, you get an introduction where it explains that you are surrounded by a lot of people, only to be greeted by the angel in a podium whom speaks in ebonics(?) and presents itself as a guide for the people to get into heaven, only to be interrupted byt Ramón, the demon that makes clear that hell is better than heaven because they have a 4D movie theater and other stuff filled of current references, then the horny bunny DJ ask where and why is everybody reunited, as to the angel and demon answer that they are dead, then the other 2 characters get introducing themselves: the troon loves machines, the latina was about to present an exam and the DJ girl gets the short stick since she tried t cause an uproar and nobody followed her.
The angel and the demon both start explaining how every of the main characters died, except you because your cause of dead is blacked. Here is the first branch, where you decide that having your CoD as a mystery is fine or just plain sucks. As the angel about to finish his speech, the demon receives a phone call and leaves for a while, that takes us to a 2nd branch in the game: follow the demon or stay and listen to the angel. The moment you stay the people ask as to why if everybody died on different dates, why are they just there at that moment. Here comes into play your PC's clock as the angel says that the last transport that collects the souls was at whatever you computer date is.
The angel says that you can live in Limbo but it is not recommended since resources are scarce and because there is no surveillance from neither heaven nor hell, and the people can get corrupted and fated to never leave. Ramon just came back, says something to the angel and leaves for hell telling people that the door is open if they want to go.
After all of that, the angel says that everybody that wants to enter heaven, he will guide them but he can not take everybody at once so some will have to wait until tomorrow. The main characters left for limbo and it looks like a rundown town. The troon leaves for finding stuff to make himself a new hand, DJ also leaves with him. So is now Rosita and you. Since I picked "She/Her" at the start of the game, I do not know if this plays into the following scene:
Rosita takes you to a run down retro dinner, you find some keys lying around while she gets into the kitchen and makes food that looks like shit, here is another branch where you pretend to eat the meal, eat the food or politely decline the offer. I selected to eat the food and my character started to puke. Rosita asks why would you eat that as to you can answer with "I do not wanted to disappoint you" or "This is all your fault". She appreciates your sincerity but ask you to be more careful as she is afraid as to what could happen if someone dies again. You both get out of the diner and Rosita gives you this look for eating her food: While you are talking about the trash she served you and she gives you this look...
After that you go into a shopping mall that does not look too bad until you get to a scene with the troon. He is trying to buy some stuff from the rat guy Hordes but the currency is juice boxes, as earthly money is no good for him. The situation escalates and two big guys enter the scene trying to intimidate the troon. You can decide to stay silent, offer Hordes the key you just found or telling the troon to suck his cock. After you shout that, the troon gets mad and hits you on the arm, Hordes laughs his ass off, he laughs so hard that he coughed up a rat that he was searching for. Hordes then decides to spare them and send them to the door. The troon and you talk for a little and bring up a point where the DJ has a fan in limbo and invited them to crash at their place to spend the night, Now to go and find the DJ.
You arrive at a parking lot where the DJ is, here she ask you to call her whenever you want: DJ Roadkill, DJ, DJRK and Roadkill. Then they left for a suburban area in front of a church that was turned into a nightclub by her fan, she then starts to break the 4th wall that if you want to be able to romance Faye (see characters) they would have to meet the stretch goal, the main character responds that they already did and then the subject is changed. Then you procced to help DJRK to set up the stage (because if you do not do it, you better start sleeping outside). Another branch comes in: Ask about the mask or ask about her name. She responds with youtube references, then she gets to the point telling us that it is part of her fursona and backstage sex while having the mask on.
Night falls and the stage is already set up. Troon, Rosita and Faye enter into scene. Faye present herself and says that she is from hell and that she runs the place. All the characters exchange words and then Faye offers everyone new clothes for tonight's party. Then all went into an office inside the church filled with books and porn (really) and DJRK starts to act horny. Here you can choose between a Flirty dress, a suave Blazer, Cheeky booty shorts or some smart suspenders. Everybody compliments you and Rosita invites DJRK to the changing room since they are both girls as to what the DJ responds that she is nonbinary but she does not mind, the troon decides to enter too so DJRK does not do anything suspicious.
And this is as far I could get. The demo is longer that I thought. I did not expected to spend more than 2 hours whit this and I have not noticed but it is raining hard around here and if not for the flickering lights I would have gone even longer with my post.
Thoughts:
This VN is better fleshed out than Validate as in it has so far an objective and a clear goal where it gives me the impression that they know where they want to go with this demo. There are some technical hiccups like the lack of controls a visual novel should have. The art is nice, but I am still annoyed that to the point of the dressing room the sexuality of the characters had to be brought up as a reminder that they are genderspecials. But I am surprised that they waited for so long before dropping that stuff.
In conclusion, it is not the worst but for LGBHD4KBBQ is one of the best out there, and that is not saying much.
