With the news of the recent opening of the ethan ralph wiki and server troubles seemingly dying down, I want to ask community members and staff if there is interest in reviving a general purpose lolcow wiki, which has existed on and off over the years.
The primary reasoning is the same as before: keeping info organized more than highlights, which often includes discussions, and the OP, only editable by the thread author and mods. (I have a small bit of experience with managing mediawiki installations and editing pages/templates, but not enough to volunteer admining.)

Question: would you guys prefer Null run it or have someone else put it up?

I could do it.

We tried this before and it did not work. Nobody wants to work for free. You get volunteers and then maybe a couple stick around but they're heavily invested in their own topics.

What you're really saying is "Who wants to help me reboot Encyclopedia Dramatica?" and you're not really thinking that question through all the way if you're just like, "yeah I can do that no problem".

I'm not going to endorse or promote any 3rd party site because that will 100% cause some fucking problem down the road.

I want wiki-editable OPs for the new forum software but that's way down the road.

Doesn't this already apply to the jannies of the forum? Editable OPs sounds analogous to a wiki anyhow.

Whatever it is, just please make it Tor-friendly.

An actual .onion address would be nice too.

Not a bad idea.

But you're probably going to get doxed or some gay shit if you are involved in this project.

wikis always start out nice and active but overtime it rots into an inactive shithole that nobody wants to do anything with it

I was lurking when the original lolcow wiki started and I remember everyone volunteering to edit it before it became a wasteland.
It was never integrated into the website at all, and it was a daunting amount of work because Wikis and Forums are opposites. Wikis are collaborative document writing where the goal is a polished page while a forum is all about discussion where people append their own thoughts to a topic.

I think an expanded rating system with more content-specific ratings (like "Good Source") along with ways to search posts by rating (like the highlight feature but more customizable and refined) would help more than trying to get people to edit wikis. Making posts and rating posts requires much less effort than trying to make a good looking wiki page. Maybe tags that aren't used for memes or a public bookmark system could help.

We could ideas guy all day about possible forum features but it seems that the only two people working on the new forum software are an overworked sysadmin-programmer-culture-critic-podcaster and a schizophrenic cryptocurrency day trader so these conveniences are far down the road anyways.

Award wiki janny stickers and badges to encourage participation
The wiki page I was working on (some of Tommy Tooter history) was in construction but going along well before the wiki shut down
