RIP Thread

While I didn’t listen to his material post hmm, 2010, Toby’s earlier stuff is a lifelong favorite of mine. I have a distinct recollection of listening to his first greatest hits album on a cassette Walkman while riding the Kindergarten bus. It’s one of my favorite childhood memories. Just last night I searched for and played “Beer for My Horses” on repeat. Had the weirdest feeling that I should.

RIP

I honestly had a feeling that this would happen, unfortunately. His last interview from about a week ago, he didn't look that good. Bit of a PL but I've had a family member that went through a similar ordeal with internal organ cancers, and they looked eerily similar about a month or so before they passed, sort of that bundled up hunched over and frail look. Cancer is the absolute worst, and I seriously wouldn't wish it on anybody. I'm not the biggest fan of his type of country music, but I did go with friends to see him in concert about a decade back or so, whenever that red solo cup song was popular, and whilst that song still makes me want to carve out my eardrums, I do admit that he put on a hell of a show, and he had some really great songs. He also genuinely supported the US troops, and seemed to have a good family life as well.

I’m not trying to be dumb here; was Toby Keith’s cancer public, or did he hide it like Norm and Reubens did?

I live in a place where I stick out for not listening to country music. I didn’t know that he had it until early this morning.
Per TMZ, no.

In June 2022, Keith announced he had been diagnosed with cancer the previous fall and was receiving chemo and radiation therapy, as well as having surgery.

At the time, he said he was doing well, but he needed time to "breathe, recover and relax."
