RIP Thread

It sucked when Layne Staley died. It sucked when Dimebag went then later Vinnie Paul. Then when Lemmy died it was like, this world fucking sucks and now this world fucking sucks more because Ozzy is gone. Now I'm wondering to myself, who's next? Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford? My bet is on Rob because of his age alone. Fuck this world.

I remembered when 4chan kept making jokes on when Paul McCartney was going to go, and he just turned 80 last year if I remember.

I thought it was a bad day when Neil Peart died, but this is worse.
RIP to the progenitor of the best rock autobiography of all time, from the best band of all time - Black Sabbath. They were The Source, and the world is a worse place without Ozzy.

RIP Ozzy.

I can't believe Mick Jagger outlived Ozzy, man.
Mick wasn't all that into drugs and alcohol as Keith and Brian were. I'm surprised Keith and Mick outlived Charlie Watts. I swear that guy was gonna outlive all of them. Bill Wyman is still kicking though.

I saw Ozzy once, and even though he was well past his prime it was still a hell of a show. None of my favorite bands would exist without him. RIP Prince of Darkness.

Black Sabbath easily one of the most influential bands of all time. First album came out in 1969, the same year as Woodstock. Who the fuck else was making music like that? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there was another band even close to that sound.

Not that I know of. Even the critics hated them. Not easy to pigeonhole.

McCartney is 83 (b. 1942). Ringo just turned 85 back on the 7th (b. 1940)
Paul is really showing his age. Ringo barely even looks like a senior citizen.

Weirdly, the Beatles, or at least Lennon. Ozzy was a huge fan. I'm specifically referencing hard blues influenced stuff like specifically I Want You (She's So Heavy) from Abbey Road, which came out in 1969. I've always thought Paranoid was influenced by it.

If that sounds insane, listen to it. It's mostly blues but there are intervals of nothing but proto-metal sounding power chords and heavy distortion really similar to the later Sabbath sound. It could be coincidence. After all they sounded a lot like that already on their first.

Am I weird because my first thought was to worry about Cobes?
