RIP Thread

Figures. Couldn't have been a copyright goon, noooooo, the reaper had to pick someone trying to preserve written knowledge instead.
Is the thread coming to this? Emo-esque soapboxing?

About 200,000 people die across the globe each day, or ~2/second. There's a good chance that some deplorable scumbag, from rapists and murderers, to attorneys and conmen, passed away. Consequently, some amazing people also died.

What would you like us to do, @moocow? Limit posts to only shitty people so we can laugh at them and celebrate their demise?

Dave Ball, one half of the pop duo Soft Cell, died at the age of 66.

Robert Bartlett, creator of the ECMO to save babies from lung problems, died at the age of 86.

He was one of the greats. Even in his old age, he was a dynamic, inspiring speaker. I saw him give a speech once. The audience was just rapt, and it couldn't have been about a less interesting topic.

I don't think there is anything wrong with mourning the loss of someone that has performed an undeniable good for the pure benefit of society. In fact, it should be encouraged. As someone who has studied some of the ancient manuscripts put online by the project of which he was the CEO, which wouldn't have been available otherwise, I can understand why someone would experience a sense of loss related to his passing.

"Unexpected"? So, what are we thinking here? Intentional suicide, Overdose (unintentional suicide), homicide victim, unknown medical condition, undisclosed medical condition, or caught a random bullet from a nigger (unintentional homicide)?
Could be another case of safe and effective.
