No, the real Johnny Rebel died a while back. It's probably the song "Nigger Fucker" that causes that rumor, as well as the fact that on filesharing sites, people would constantly mislabel Johnny Rebel songs as him. I think that's Coe's only song with a racial slur in the title, and it's from the viewpoint of a possible racist who got cucked by one, or is possibly just really mad.

Its a joke. They've known who the real guy was for like 20 years.

The old Showdown classic 'The Rodeo Song" was mislabeled as David Allan Coe on Napster/Kazaa etc. back in the day as well. Genuinely pissed me off.

It wasn't just David Allan Coe, it was a lot of random country singers whose names got mixed up in the days of Napster/KaZaa. I remember downloading the Johnny Rebel "Nigger Hatin' Me" song which was incorrectly labeled as Johnny Horton -- whose music I was familiar with because of my grandparents -- and I was actually convinced the real Johnny Horton recorded a blatantly racist song like that. Then I saw the song again on a file sharing program and was listed as being by Coe. I also saw a bunch of other miscellaneous old school country songs incorrectly labeled as being either Johnny Rebel, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, or Coe. Really weird times.

On a somewhat related note, back then it was also common to download various bizarre comedy songs that were incorrectly labeled as Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, or Weird Al -- despite being neither of them. I discovered the King Missile "Detachable Penis" song that was labeled as Kids in the Hall for whatever reason. :cringe:

Always respected the absolute hell out of that guy. One of the greatest open-wheel drivers of his generation, then suffered an unthinkable trauma losing his legs, and decided to become one of the best handcycle riders in the world. He could've sat around and moped, but he made life his bitch instead. He didn't know how to do anything but push forward and succeed. I, admittedly, do a lot of the "moping" thing. He was a better man than I, and better than most. RIP Mr. Zanardi.

Unrelated, but it's good to see that a widespread media outlet like TMZ doesn't understand when to use italics or quotation marks when referring to various types of media.

Ah, that was a funny week. They were so desperate for it not to be true ... it was like the left collectively needed a thousand confirmations from a thousand different sources before they'd even believe it.
