I saw Lanegan with QOTSA and with Dulli several times in mid-00s, this is a big loss. I think Covid fucked his kidneys beyond repair.
Yeah he was unfortunately an antivaxer (even including the 5G nonsense) but one of the very last people who should have been. After all the heroin and other substances, his liver and kidneys already had to be dangling from a string.

His last major work was apparently a memoir (Devil in a Coma) about his experiences (and regrets about the coof shit).

Wait, what? Really? He's one of the last people I would have expected. A few years ago I remember finding out he was on Twitter, checking his feed, seeing it was 100% whining about Trump and deciding I would just stick to listening to his music.

I saw Lanegan live between 10-15 times, on his own, with the Gutter Twins and with Dulli, Isobell Campbell, even the Soulsavers. My favorite show of the bunch was probably from the Bubblegum tour with Nick Oliveri after Nick had been kicked out of QOTSA.
It really sucks that he died, but at the same time, it's sort of a miracle he lived this long.

Nightbirde (Jane Marczewski), a singer and contestant on America's God Talent, died 2021 February 19 at 31 after a long battle with cancer.

She got the golden buzzer award but could not compete further due to failing health.
It's a shame her health got the best of her, she could've made it far in the competition. (What can I say, I'm an AGT fan.) Still it's sad when people die so young.

Seattle Times reportedly wrote that Mark not only had COVID, he also was dealing with loss of hearing and “slipping in and out of a coma” while writing a tell all book about it.

Almost eerily reminds me of Meat Loaf in has last few years when he was still around.
For what it's worth, COVID fucked me up one side and down the other (I never got the luxury of being pro- or anti- vax). At least once early in the initial infection I had trouble waking up- it physically hurt my brain to become and stay completely aware of my surroundings, and I got the distinct impression if I didn't fight for it I was going to be stuck permanently somewhere in between asleep and awake. The pain of doing that (whatever that was) almost never leaves now. I routinely wake up with my brain feeling like it's on fire.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oh my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddddddd what a fucking tragedy.

He had so much ahead of him. Several arrests, a litter of mutt kids, an OD or two, and maybe a single that cracks the top 200.
He achieved so much in the 36 years he was on this earth!

Let's start a petition to have Pennsylvania Avenue renamed to 'Snootie Wild Boulevarde'. It's only right.
